North Stand Construction Discussion

But you would walk from Deansgate, not Picc
City fans are fortunate that they can walk 1.4 miles to Piccadilly station. Man Utd do not walk up to Deansgate presumably because it is further, and even if they got there, they still have to get to Piccadilly which is the transport hub and another mile away.

The food, drink and price will be benchmarked by what's in town and most likely it will be the same chains and outlets. I have always avoided the fanzones at Wembley because I anticipated being ripped off.

The environment looks good. That's all I can discern from the marketing.
Ye your right, however I like my real ale, can't see there being any of that, pretty sure there's non in the co op live.

Medlock Square will have a capacity, as it's enclosed, so will it be first come first served or ticketed? Before a match, it could be first come up to the limit, assuming there are no turnstiles behind it and you need to leave to get into the ground. But afterwards, you wouldn't want it to just be the first 3,000 or you'll end up with even more fans leaving early.

Waiting to see what's announced, but I'm expecting either you'll need to buy a ticket for it for each game, or yet another level of season ticket which gives access.

Sorry Jrb but in respect of your comment on the resurfacing of JMW , what have you seen on those CGI’s that confirms it ?? ( apart from the fact it’s not shown as blue )
Exactly that.

In the CGI Joe Mercer Way has the same surface finish as the surface around the new North stand.

I did say if the CGI video is true and accurate.

I doubt there’s many of us on here who would believe Joe Mercer Way is going to be left as it is, leading to the fan zone, whilst the around the North stand is resurfaced.

Of course I could be wrong.

I think you’re right.

They want to make it feel like a square for everyone rather than a… City Square, so that they can attract people going to Co-op Live and day to day customers who aren’t City fans. It’s probably why there is going to be no huge club badge on the sky bar glass windows as was in the initial planning.
Fair enough it has to make money when theres no football on

Medlock Square is fine but other than matchday it really isn't City-fied is it?

I'm assuming that is a decision taken on purpose to ensure revenues are kept up on concert days and fans of other clubs will not feel uncomfortable spending money there.

Also assume that is why the badge was removed from the glass of the sky bar in a revision of the planning app too
I had an email yesterday advertising ‘Medlock Square’. I was a bit shocked that they’d renamed it at first, but now I see it makes sense as they won’t want to alienate the halfwits who support other clubs; hence the re think on the huge City badge which was in the original plans. All to keep Tarquinius the Gooner from St Albans happy

I still have no idea if I can simply rock up, buy a pie and a pint and sit down to drink/eat in City Square. Doesn't look like it from those images. No seating other than ahem, deck chairs. Its clearly not designed for normal fans. Why does my heart sink a little with every new announcement. Parking will be fun with all these new punters attracted. I know I'm being a negative sod. Someone be positive quick.

Fuck'em I say. Should be big fuck off City badges everywhere. I'm bloody sure the trafford circus top will not avoid the obvious branding if its ever built.

I've got it today - so City Square is now Medlock Square...

JMW colour change on this one

I think these will be the rows of padded seats for those who buy the new season tickets witch access to the themed bars - cross bar etc. That's why they haven't gone in yet maybe? I'm sure they said they would be the back rows of the existing stand?? Sure I read that somewhere
The missing rows are for The Cross Bar hospitality bit only, the City Hall hospitality seats will be at the back of the lower tier.

Another 2 hours 25 mins to get here tonight for 56 miles in the car....I know it's not particularly City's fault but another 8k and/or 20k? at a gig next season to add to traffic.

If renewal date was tomorrow I'd be calling it a day and picking the odd game, see how I feel in the summer tho.
