North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

My passive acceptance enables the club though...
Yes it does!!

Here's how the club works. (based on years of experience working with them. I've sat in meetings with Danny and Roel and discussed Flexigold).

They will do things like survey all flexigold members and ask 'are you happy you've got a flexigold ticket'.

You'll say yes, because you can only compare it to a matchday membership.

The club then uses that as justification for its decisions, saying it's 'consulted fans' and is now ONLY offering FGs going forward. Then, we completely lose the next generation of consistent match going supporters who are further priced out by the £150 tax you're having to pay!

Please do not be passive. We want a better deal for fans like you. As a minimum you should be offered the choice of both an SC or FG.

It really isn't.

The poster is completely missing the point. There is no fan vs fan anger. It's the complete opposite... fans sticking up for fans!
I know the little bit of friction is unintended but maybe everyone could take a beat and move on to discuss other stuff. These flexi-goods aren’t the biggest issue facing fans or the club.

I appreciate it - FWIW, the club sent out a survey to FG members and I essentially answered "I'd prefer a gold season ticket" to every question it allowed me to. I don't think I've been passive in anything I've said. I wasn't defending an exclusive FG only policy, just defending those who've bought them, a majority (I'm sure) who would've preferred a gold seasoncard, or at the very least, the option of one.

The ones offered (bar the kids which are pretty cheap anyway) had to qualify and would have spent a lot more doing so than the flexi costs for the same games, so they were welcomed.

Obviously they aren't as good as a proper season ticket, but they may be a pathway to one like Silvers ended up being. The rules change every season and the ones that go to the most games will probably benefit first again.

Every time the flexi-gold is brought up on here, there seems to be a big bit of misplaced aggression from "proper" ST holders about those who've bought them. I'm one of those. Would I have bought a normal season ticket if I had the option? Yes, undoubtably I would, but that wasn't available to me. I hadn't been in the financial situation to afford one until now.

Am I a City fan and want to get to as many games as possible? Yes.

Do I want to have the same/guaranteed seat? Yes.

Do I want to pay less to attend games? Yes.

Do I want to have to spend a ridiculous sum of money in July every year buying tickets on my credit card and spending the rest of the season paying that off and accruing interest? No.

There's a misplaced anger at those that have bought flexi-gold. It's a far better deal than buying tickets on a matchday membership. I don't see why anyone would convert from a gold/platinum to a flexi-gold as it's doesn't make any sense, but those lucky enough to have "proper" season tickets would do exactly the same as I did if they were in the situation I was as a matchday member without a season ticket. You cannot blame people for buying them if they are the only thing on offer; blame the club.

You're conflating different issues.

The ONLY reason the club are promoting FG over normal SCs is to drive revenue. If it wasn't, why not offer fans the choice? Why not offer seasoncard holders more flexibility if they wanted to reduce no shows?

If fans want to pay a £150 membership that guarantees tickets to bigger games, that's fine. But don't tax fans who want to go to every game £150!!

The whole no-show thing is nonsense based on outdated statistics.
I'm not conflicting any thing.I and many others don't want either SC or FG.I'd prefer to just pay for a game when I want to go but won't pay £35 membership.Flexi gold shouldn't come with an up front cost either
The club is ripping fans of left right and center there is no doubt about that
Many tickets which are available for the likes of Forrest,Ipswich ext aren't available for Unit*d .Liverpool.Spurs ext unless you willing to pay £350 plus for a £30 meal in some restaurant in town then make your own way to the ground
The club has sold it's soul and has done so for many years but can't blame people who take Flexi gold option as they see it as best way for them to watch the games
Ps there were 1or2 no-shows for the Forrest game

As far as I’m aware, nobody has been aggressive towards people who take up the flexi-gold, feel free to point me to a post I may have missed if you disagree. If I was a match day member and had the chance to get one, I would take it. People are critical of the club as this is the only multiple match product they are offering (I refuse to call it a season ticket). People are comparing it to the match day membership and thinking it’s better than that, which it clearly is, but that is a very low bar to be honest, match day members are treated appallingly. It’s become a depressing race to the bottom.

Take the flexi-gold by all means, but don’t let it stop you from arguing for a better deal.

Regardless of people's views on FG as the only offer now and seemingly going forward the fact that the club only released 600 in the summer is a fucking disgrace.
