something about air flow...got the fire roaring.

As per previous poster sometimes it set on fire. So did the chimney (Chimley)

Oh for the days when there were only 2 sexes - male/female. Now a 3rd option - prefer not to say! Also your sexual preferences: straight/gay. Now there's all sorts e.g. pansexual (aka - whatever's available)!l And anybody who endorsed uni sex toilets would be sent straight for a sanity hearing.

Essentially you were blocking part of the chimney with newspaper therefore restricting the space for the airflow to go up the chimney, this has the effect of increasing the velocity of the airflow (creating wind) ....result = fanning the flames.
Much quicker to get the fire going.
