Not coming in the Top 4 - it's ok!!

If we dont make CL /top four I will be more than happy to miss out on Europa Cup and go for a domestic treble. Well within Peps grasp with the right players and less risk of injuries as fewer games.
Didn't League Cup win already put us in Europa League, or did the change in EL include the loss of place for cup wins?

Either way, not being in CL is so far out of the ownership plans as to be a nightmare! As we should all understand from Arsenal celebrating their 4th place, the CL is almost more important than winning the League for most players and clubs. There are so few clubs that can win the Prem, and it IS important, but playing in the CL appears to be the zenith of players' careers, with the holy grail being the CL Winners Medal.

Personally, I would be crushed if we didn't make it, especially given who might make it in our place if it were to happen!

Players go to the club that offers them the biggest financial reward (think Robinio and the like). Their decisions are not influenced by the idea of playing one season out of the CL. Don't buy into the media and it's ridiculous lies about this. Fucking utter, utter fallacy.

Good point. Maybe we do qualify for EL winning COC - Im not sure you could well be right.

To be having a serious discussion regarding if we will actually make a top 4 spot just shows how much this team has regressed under Pellegrini.
We are back to the stage of when Mark Hughes was in charge. Pellegrini has taken us back 6 years.
Roll on May when he finally departs.
Weve regressed so much under MP that weve only won the PL and 2 domestic cups plus almost certain last 8 in the CL . Hope we keep regressing.

So it's chiselled in stone that he won't sign a contract extension, is it? Honestly, the things people decide to worry about is beyond belief.

The perceived wisdom is that Pep doesn't stay long term. 4 years at Barca where let's face it he could have stayed as long as he wanted. 3 years at Bayern. So if he's only at City 3 years it would be a shame to waste 1 of them, that's all.

Pam,

I would agree that players on their downslope do that, but I'm not convinced money plays that much of a factor for top, top players. They are all multi-millionaires already, with most making more from endorsements than their clubs, so I don't think an extra £10,000/wk from a club swings it. It is all about playing with the best players, in the best teams in the best leagues, and competing at the highest levels. I don't buy into the media hype that it is all about the money, but I DO believe that if two top teams come for a player, whether they play in the CL or not CAN be a factor. I also think playing for a top coach like Pep can be a factor, too.

Regardless, I'm confident we WILL be in the CL, but hope we are at least 3rd so we don't have to play a Qualifier right after the Euros! That might be quite a banana skin, especially given the number of players who might be gone, tired, injured!

It's a more challenging job for him than his previous two and I don't see him leaving until he achieves what he is being brought here to do. .. which is essentially to make us capable of competing with the likes of the teams he managed at first two clubs.
