I think we'll make top 4 with something to spare. Top 3 would be the ideal, though.

BTW, the last time Chavski were too crap to make the top 4, (2011/12) they qualified by winning the thing. Football can throw up all manner of gob-smacking stuff. You only have to look at Leicester to see an example. I can understand an element of pessimism, but the forum has been ridiculous tonight.

It's not so much league position as CL must qualify.... I personally don't like CL set up but we are all aware of reasons to be in it.

If we don't come in top four it is a major set back because of player transfers etc... Pep is a very positive person but I think even he would feel on a downer to be coming city without CL.. We have all seen done deals from a manager then a twist and change.

Anyhow fuck that, we won't win league but top 3, a trophy and Pep.. Come on you beauty !!!!!

I say again ... Footballers play for the highest bidder. A lucrative long-term contract is far more important to them than missing out on the odd CL tournament.

And yet the Rags signed the likes of Da Maria and Falcao the year they had no CL football. This argument about players refusing to sign for a club whenever it happens to miss out on CL football for a few no the. This is media bullshit. Or are you talking about FFP?

I did not really consider FFP in this, no. But we would have to spend even sillier amounts on transfers and probably increase wage offers as well again.

I think we will make it hopefully with a bit to spare. If we beat Norwich and the Rags can't really see anyone catching us for 4th tbh. Then we can try to nail down 3rd though we may have to beat Arsenal to secure that.

I'm picking up two distinct opinions around this thread and the board;

1 - we'll be a tour de force for years into the future under this ownership
2 - not coming in the top 4 this season will be utterly disastrous, setting us back all of 2 years perhaps.

It would mean that Pep can't get the players we need so the first season of his 3 will be a waste of a year

Plus if he has to build a team round the wankers that we can't move on, we're not going to improve so there's no guarantee we'd finish top 4 next season

It would be a catastrophe (in football terms) if we didn't get in the top 4 and would set us back to pre Mancini times when we had to pay decent players a kings ransom to come to a club that doesn't have a lot to offer except cash
