Not from Manchester, Not from the Uk, and I am a City Fan

So you think the new 'fans' won't just fuck off if we ever do hit some bad times again? They want to attach themselves to a winning club so they can celebrate in the glory likes it's their own. They have some sort of unfulfilled success in their life and they think by attaching themselves to a club they will finally get the success they so desperately crave but are too stupid to achieve by themselves.

Personally I hate every single one of these new fans. I've berated rags all over the country (and even some in other countries where I was on holiday) for their reasons for supporting them. They have no right to celebrate what has been achieved this season. I couldn't just decide to support a club. Every victory would feel hollow as I know I'm trying to make up for my own inadequacies by pretending I'm a part of Manchester city.

They are not proper blues and never will be and it's disgusting that people are so accepting of them.
So your against any new fans then??.Not alot of foward thinking in that. They have every right to celebrate if thats what they want to do? lighten up mate lives to short just enjoy it along with everyone else,I celebrate the fact that they want to be blues can only be good for the future of our club.

People taking an interest in us is brilliant. People announcing they are fans of us and taking our success as their own is not acceptable. I'm not against people taking an active interest in us, but if one of those people comes up to me and tries to liken myself to him he'll be getting an earful off me along the lines of that couldn't be further from the truth. I know several lower league fans that have recently took an interest in us. That's brilliant. They are under no illusions that they are not fans in the sense that I am and they'll never proclaim to be. They've come to a few games with me to watch some of the best players in the world in the same sense that I always watch Usain Bolt race because he is an exceptional sportsman, despite me having no allegiances to Jamaica. I also like to watch Madrid for the reason that my mates watch us.

So its fine if people buy up a load of seats at the Etihad "to watch the best players in the world" i.e Tourists. But your against people that really try to be fans and support the team the best they can? You also let your mates who don't support city take up room at the Etihad those seats could go to real blues instead mate. Leave them at home.

Wow.. just wow. Without international support city would be kicked out of the champions league or not be able to spend enough to compete.. Chelsea united would continue for years to come.. you like that idea? I bet you do for your own selfish pride... I somehow think 90% of Manchester city locals would not like your stance.

You know what, I would welcome rewinding 12 years. As pleased as it makes me feel to see City sitting at the top with one game remaining my best memories will always be before the takeover. I've never felt further away from the club than I have this season. I'd take "We never win at home and we never win away"
every time over "We score when we want", one of the most shameful, rag-like chants to have ever come from our support.

Call it whatever you want, selfish pride, stupidity, I couldn't care less. The most cherished moment of following the blues was those seasons where we had true supporters all singing through the driving rain and wind whilst watching abysmal football.

well if you were there singing in the rain watching us suffer in the lower leagues then fair play but as a true Blue you will enjoy this moment (hopefully) more than any other but I doubt you're a Blue at all with your pompous rag like whinging lol

I don't think it is true that I will enjoy this moment more than any other. Ask yourself why you attach yourself so firmly to a team. For me at least it wasn't for the feeling of watching my team win trophies (Since we didn't even get to lift a major one until about 14 years after me getting a season ticket). It is the tribal instinct that lies in us all, to feel like we belong to a group with one common cause. To be able to mingle amongst so many people from different walks of life and be able to relate to all of them. Whilst I was thoroughly depressed at some games I was sat around thousand of fans that I could connect with and the common experiences brought a sort of unity to the club as a whole. We were connected, we were the club, the very thing that football is all about. Recently this feeling just hasn't been quite the same. Don't get me wrong, I've celebrated every goal and I'll always be delighted when we lift a trophy. The Last season or so I just haven't had the same feeling with football though. I've still celebrated but I just don't feel as connected with the club. Things are changing and in my opinion it is for the worse. The very reasons that I was so encapsulated by the whole experience of supporting City have lessened recently.

You claim that you don't believe I'm a blue. Well you answer the reason that you are drawn to football and maybe you will understand the angle that I am coming from.

Come monday there will be more of us foreigners supporting city. We'll brag like utd fans and will try our best to make city the most hated team. If you really love your club ditch the sheik or else.

QUE ????

he's got a point though :)

Just a bit mystified about the last sentence ! We`ll have to accept the inevitable, that we will attract day trippers (seen more and more at home games, over the past 2 months),hangers on and the new type of fan The Glory Hunters.
The idea is to bring in more revenue on the commercial side and if soft boy Phate doesn`t understand this, well ....
See what happens tomorrow and how many "new" fans will become members on the "Waiting List" for Season Tickets.

If we were in the championship we wouldn't sell-out for most games so they aren't taking real blues seats at all. Being a fan isn't something you try to be, being a fan is something you just are.

-- Sat May 12, 2012 2:24 am --

Of course I understand the need for increased revenue. Although Ironic that one of the stupidest members on this board would suggest that I have a lack of understanding. What I'm opposed to is people claiming that they are fans when that couldn't be further from the truth.

No of course they are not. We are in the championship and those seats that would be empty for the league we are not in can be filled by your day tripping mates.

I'm Bosnian, so I understand you great :)

But what the guy said, even if it was a sarcastic aim on phate is as you said inevitable and of course it has to be accepted by old fans.

Those who are not accepting that are as much deluded as some new million miles away fan that would cut his veins because of his love for City.
