Not from Manchester, Not from the Uk, and I am a City Fan

I started supporting City 40 years ago. I was 11 years old. Mainly because my mates started supporting the scum, 'pool, Leeds etc., and because I liked the colour of our shirts. When we beat Ushited two weeks ago, I wasn't able to sit the last 15 min. of the match. After the game, I sat in my coach for at least half an hour trembling/shivering and bubbling with joy and excitement. I am 51 years old, and apperantly still a kid. I have been to Manchester only once. Am Norwegian, seen City several times live, but in London. Do you wan't to be my judge ? Be my guest ! Do you think I care ? Really ? CTID !!!!!

Great post fella.

people around the world don't like maradona because he is from argentina or zidane because he is french. they like them because they are good players. similarly, people around the world enjoy watching brazil because they like their style.
imagine argentinians telling you, no you should not like maradona? how weird is that heh?

Only downside to this influx of new fans is whenever I wear my City shirt (only ever wear strips on holiday) I don't want people to look at me and think glory hunter..it was ok when we were shit..there was only a few of us..and when you saw a fellow blue on holiday they were generally Manc and you could talk to them about City

I'm just scared I'm going to bump into someone wearing a City top who knows fuck all about the club..wouldn't know what to say!

I'm from STOCKPORT.

'AVE THAT!

To rub more salt in the wounds, my gran is from Liverpool and my grandad is from Old Trafford.

I feel like some kind of dirty genetics experiment. We're all blues though. We always have been in my household, and we always will be!

That said, I don't mind anybody wishing the club well or supporting us from afar. I'll always wonder how it feels supporting us from abroad though. It probably isn't the same as if you've been indoctrinated into the club from birth, I'm not saying that makes you any less a supporter though. I just think it would be different, but not any less intense. For me, supporting City is like second nature and if they went out of existence I don't think I'd watch football at all. Whereas some of these fans got into us via other clubs and watching football generally.

I almost feel like I discovered City before I discovered football if that makes any sense. The community was there before the sport. Whereas for fans abroad the sport was there before the community.

Whatever your priorities though, as long as you make a positive contribution, how could that ever be a bad thing?
