Not Keen on Mancini

Rather than branding Mancini as a poor choice, I think some people are just worried about the risk element that comes with this appointment. Yes, Ferguson, Wenger, Benitez etc didn't have Premier League experience when they joined their respective clubs and have turned out to be successful. However, all managers managing in the Premier League had no experience when starting out. At the end of the day, the appointment of any new manager is a risk, and I just feel that some people would prefer a manager who has done it before in this league. Mancini may well do a better job than Hughes and we'll find out over the coming months whether he is the real deal, but just because he has been quite successful in Italy does not make him a certainty to bring success in the Premier League. Yet obviously you want a winner in charge of the club and as he has been successful in one league, this may well continue in another. I hope that the appointment is a good move and that the risk pays off.

As with all managers, I will back him 100%.

This appointment is bollocks...

I'm struggling to understand how a lot of people are excited by this.

I was a Hughes inner, and im gutted that he has gone. The thing is, is that Mancini now needs 4 to 5 years to get this right... Can you see a theme developing here??

I certainly won't be jumping on the bandwagon if we don't finish in the top 4 this season. These things take time. Look at Villa and Spurs... settled squads where the majority of the players have been together for 2 to 3 years, and look where they are...

What we have done basically, is give the players the power (If you don't like the manager, or if things aren't going well, don't worry Robinho or Adebayor, it won't be you who we get rid of, it will be the manager). I was delighted yesterday that Hughes signed off by dropping Adebayor and Robinho after the shite that they served up on Wednesday, not a fucking ounce of effort...

Sometimes Managers make mistakes. They get things wrong. Then there is a process of learning and getting it right. We have just been put back to square one, yet again.

Mark Hughes is a good manager and Roberto Mancini looks like he is better than Hughes given his record. But his record and past success will mean absolutely fuck all if he doesn't get more than 4 years...

This biggest thing for me is my connection with the club is fast disintegrating... There is a minority of people at the club who have been there for more than 18 months (the academy players)... There's no one at City that I can relate to anymore or say, yeah he's City through and through blah, blah... Probably Nedum Onuoha is the closet we get to that...

So Villas completely new back 4 this season is a myth then and Spurs did not give Rednap a penny to spend did they. Christ at least check the facts before spouting off.

I actually think he's a bit unfortunate with the timing, it's a busy period on the footballing calendar at Christmas/New Year and he has to quickly find his feet. That's a lot of games that can go wrong without a lot of time working with the players. I think a snap judgment would be harsh in the circumstances, and, although I'm not 'over the moon' with it, mainly because of the fact I don't know too much about him, I'm more than willing to give the guy a fair crack of the whip. I only watched Inter a few times when he was in charge and I don't think that they played unattractive football. My main question is whether he'll be able to handle the media storm and the mind games that English football has to offer as I don't believe it's quite the same in Italy.

I remember the days when we even gave people like Big Bob Taylor a chance. Where has our patience gone I ask thee.

We have all watched City under Hughes and i think we can all agree that defensivly we have always been poor under his leadership. I personally think under Hughes we were shocking at keeping possesion and gave the ball away far too easily. I think we played with a "Gung-Ho' mentality and our preparation on set plays was absoloutley shocking.
I also think it stood out when Chris kamara on Soccer Saturday was at Bolton last week and he went in the Bolton dressing room talking to Gary Megson. On Boltons tactics screen it read "Man City's defense has no organisation"!!!
This is completley true and it stands out a mile to anyone who has coached at any level of football.
Hughes teams hoof the ball far too much for my liking and also concede far too much. You do not win trophies conceding like we have been with world class players in the team.
I believe Mancini's appointment was the right decision at the correct time, although i do think it could of done a bit prettier.
You have to remember Hughes was not the choice of the owners. Mancini is the man to take us to May and i believe no matter what Mourniho will be City's manager by June.

With Hughes - like him or not - at least we were more than likely going to be in Europe next season. This happening now - an un-tried in prem football manager, players who clearly respected Hughes (the players who at least tried game in game out - that is)now very unhappy, language difficulties, fan apathy to Mancini, press condemnation of the Hughes sacking, new scrutiny of the owners understanding of football and their aims, - Will the insecurity throughout the club and criticism from outside have a an adverse effect on our play and position in the league?
Never want to hear the words stability form Swiss Cookie again.

How do you work that out? Hughes had 18 months to sort out the defence and yet teams like Burnley, Bolton and others found it all to easy to score a bagful against us. Even Wolves managed to keep Burnley out. So exactly what was Hughes eventually going to do to change that? And don't trot out the Bllxs of needing time to gel. They are professional footballers not some kids off the park.

i worked it out by looking at the table - having a game in hand and some promising recent performances - granted some poor ones too.
As for you ruling that the Bllx idea of a team being given time to gel is not allowed on the forum - I apologise in advance for beliving that time and patience are vital in creating a consistant winning side.
Of course what do i know - and that Shearer, Dixon, Stone, Bruce, Wenger, Hansen, Armfield, Redknapp, for that matter. Must just be a myth

Sorry, but at least half of them know precisely fuck all about football management :-)

footy is all about emotions and opinions....at the minute I feel ashamed to be a CITY fan and not felt like that before.....is the club slipping away from us?

I will back mancini 100% and the players like I always do but just feel we have slid down snake when we where at the top of the board....hopefullt the luck of the dice will get us back but very risky and ist not so much the new manager but affect of all this on players, will take more time for new boss to bring people in....
