Let’s hope you don’t have to make such choice;)If I had a choice between spending the rest of my life in a prison or a secure hospital, it would be the former without question.
The families of the victims don’t.
But understandably it's rare that a victim's family can make an objective assessment (even if they were qualified to make it), only an experienced psychiatrist is able to diagnose schizophrenia.
There were in fact 4 separate assessments carried out and all found the same - hence todays sentence. Sad for the families who have to live with it forever but thats how the law works I suppose. I doubt very much that we would ever get a majority view to bring back the death penalty in the UK.
Exactly. When you're gone, you're gone. I don't begrudge my taxes keeping this monster in miserable existence for years. That's real suffering.I’d consider never knowing freedom again to be the most extreme punishment available within our laws. If the death penalty isn’t deterrent then it’s pointless bringing it back.
And it is Burns Night after all.Fair enough both use Hawkeye.
