I'd also say he quite likes the area. Spent six years at Blackburn and Stoke. Doesn't help one bit that both his best performances for City have been immediately followed by being dropped the next week. The guy is useful and a good servant. And he's had about two years if you exclude the injuries.

Not only is he a good player, he would be a huge upgrade in a position we are vulnerable in.

Shame Delph's home grown status means he's got a guaranteed squad place at least until Roberts gets back in the summer. Not that I don't like him but it would simplify things not having to register a player who so rarely plays. Although it's unlikely to have a serious negative impact this season because we probably aren't looking at signing many players.
