It really is an education reading some of the bile been posted about the "Tories" on here, it speaks volumes.

what are you implying, speaks volumes about what? Being labelled a work-shy lazy benefit cheat and an odious **** and a cretin because you dont believe in right-wing dogma( you know, the market is always right ,soak the poor give to the rich know your place and all the rest of the victorian bollox) Not surprising or even educational ,heard it all before when "she" was dancing on the grave of british industry. When you've seen it at first hand ,the riots, the destruction of jobs, the joy and triumphalism plastered across the gutter-press as industry after industry was lost or given to given to party contributors ,it can vex you a little bit. Not enough to call someone a **** or a cretin though.
will be interesting to see how 'dave' comes out of this love-in with the libs, if he agrees to PR then the end is in sight for the tories ,if he says no then he wont have a majority worth talking about.Lets face it though, after everything brown got wrong, to not bury new labour this time, despite murdoch, was maybe because enough voters remember the last time we had a tory govnmt.Yours respectfully

lib dems have prob lost a million votes already

as for ^^^ I can barely get past the second word

libertarian windbag

What's wrong with being a Libertarian?

Put me in the same boat there.

In fact, I would imagine that there are a large number of Libertarians who won't actually know that they are Libertarians as it doesn't really fit into the traditional left-right spectrum.

Though there are different strands of libertarianism; libertarianism of the left with libertarian socialism and anarcho-syndicalism and then libertarianism of the right with anarcho-capitalism.

As I see it, Clegg has a problem. He and his party desperately want electoral reform but that's not really the big issue at the moment. That's the economy and if he's seen to be putting electoral reform ahead of sorting out the mess Brown has made then they could be finished as a force.

I also think that the Conservative pledge to start cutting the deficit immediately might be one they're happy to wriggle out of, as they surely know it could be even more damaging to the economy but only did it to diffentiate themselvs from Labour. If I was Cameron I could be persuaded to relax that in return for the Lib Dems not being quite so insistent on implementing a change to the voting system in favour of something a bit more woolly.

He doesn't necessarily need PR he could strike a deal to reduce the number of MP (i think that's a Clegg & Cameron pledge). Which would mean all the boundaries need to be redrawn which could end up with being very bad for Labour but brilliant for the Libdems.

It's very likely that there'll be another election within the next 12-18 months anyway. 'Dave' would be mad to implement widespread cuts now and expect to win a follow-up election. Much better to wait til he potentially has a full term on his own to push some long-term changes through.
