it says everywhere that a fee of 25million has been agreed and so surely that means that barca don't want to keep eto and they have been allowed permission to accept the bid

don't know if that makes sense but i think so sorry!

Eto'o is still under contract, he doesn't have to move no matter what Barcelona want.
Eto'o could very well just sit on his ring for a season & then leave next summer on a bosman, no transfer fee would mean astronomical wages to Eto'o, far more than he'll get leaving this summer.

Plus he would prob pocket a bonus up front as a signing on fee!.

I actually think if we dont sign him this summer we never will.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

What the hell is this loyalty bonus? It's stupid because surely every player who enjoys a contractural obligation of that nature is going to dig his heels in and say he doesn't want to leave whatever club was stupid enough to agree that in the first place. Its £10 million quid, FFS

Do you all not think this is one last chance of Etoo and his agent getting money from Barca.

The timing of the agents press conference tomorrow is surely just to force Barca into a decision before City make an announcement on 1st.

If barca dont budge on loyalty payment then they lose £25mil because he will walk at the end of the season for zilch.

Let me have your take on the above

Barcelona will want us to pay this loyalty bonus, depends if we want to risk losing him by telling Barcelona they have to pay it or whether we just say "fvck it" and pay it ourselves.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Sorry guys but did try to tell you a while ago that Eto'o and his agent are not to be trusted.

They use rich clubs just about every year to get his terms and conditions improved at Barca, sure if you did some digging you'd find he'd had talks with someone last year and probably the year before.

Eto'o is 28 and a free agent next season, I believe, why would he now leave the CL holders and go to anyone?

He knows full well clubs like us and others will pay him a fortune next season as he is a free agent and he will still only be 29, in fact if Barca aren't in line to win all again come January window then don't be shocked if the talk of him leaving comes up again.

He and his agent unfortunately are all that is bad in football ....... me me me me me

Thought you were a Spuds fan?

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

A few questions

1) Why are Barca eager to sell one of the top 3 strikers in the world?
2) Do we want a player who does not want to play for us?
3) Will Barca play him next season much?
4) Do you think this will reflect badly on our club?

I do have some answers to this but I was interested in others first

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Tactics by agent and Etoo to push Barca - dont think he would get the package being offered by city by anyone even if he waited a year and went on bosman

I still believe he will be a blue - I hope so anyhow

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Now, since it's been reported that Eto's agent has stated Eto'o wants to stay, I wouldn't yet be too disheartened...

Both Barcelona and Eto's agent are playing games with each other to secure the best deal they can.
Eto'o has only a year left and can theoretically walk for free next year.

So, either Eto's agent is hankering to get that contract renewed, and / or Barca are thinking "time to regenerate the team a little, and we're getting good money in the pot to help with the Villa signing ;-)"

I think Barca will effectively gently nudge Eto'o out the door, and have already started this with their public airing of Man City's offer.
Eto's however, probably doesn't want to go. Barca's all he's really known and the Premiership is a challenge. He could do well, then again, he might not.

At the moment, I think the gamesmanship is entirely between Eto's guys and Barca. Barca can now say "look, if you want to much extra money, go to City... and we'll tell the fans you went for the money, so we get less backlash. If you want to stay, accept the terms on the table". A nice move by Barca.

Will be an interesting few days for sure... very interesting!
Interestingly, nobody has stated an 'acceptance' of the bid yet

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

well tomorrow we will all know, once this agent has his press conference.........

This is what I was thinking too mate. Other things that make me think the deal will go through is
1) Barca confirmed yday that they were close to signing some brazilian striker cant remember his name began with k.
2) They say this morning that they are after ribery.
3) We all know villa will end up there or madrid and by the looks of it more likely barca.
and
4) That Dharmesh bloke on SSN said that he spoke to benzemas agent who was in barca at the time but only for an advert, I highly doubt that lol

Anyway if barca are to sign these players they will need to offload and also bring in money to finance them.
Keep your fingers crossed lads you know this is city and nothing ever runs smoothly ;)
