Official - City end interest in Eto'o [merged]

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

The money isn't the key issue here - everything you read says Barca want rid of him, we are the only real bidders for his services.

My conclusion is its just a matter of time before the deal is done. Player of his stature in the game can't afford to stay at a club that might not play him.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

I guess the point I am trying to make is that at 25M or lower, if Eto'o gets a % cut then Barca are going to be left with little money either way to fnd the Villa transfer. And ultimately I believe that's what the hold up is about - not the issue of saving face.

Let's say the cut is 50% (which sounds crazy high to me but I digress)

15M fee = 7.5M cut to Barca
20M fee = 10M cut to Barca
25M fee = 12.5M cut to Barca
30M fee = 15M cut to Barca

If its a % deal then by lowering the fee Barca also lower their money. Whatever way you want to cut it.

So the only way this works is if it's City who pay the loyalty bonus. If that's the case then the entire complexion of the deal changes.

20M fee = 20M to Barca, 10M to Eto'o = 30M net to us

We pay an extra 5M in total but everybody has what they want.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

would be more worried about Inter than AC. the targets AC have strongly linked with suggest they can't afford to go for the very top strikers (makes you wonder how much of the Kaka fee didn't go straight in to help the clubs core finances). Inter pose more of a threat when it comes to Eto'o

the whole point of selling Kaka was to pay those debts. They were never going to lavish it all on a replacement.

Personally I don't see Inter as a threat for Samu - They've signed the lad from Genoa, Milito, they have Ibra, Obinna, Balotelli.

Funny to see Crouch linked with AC Milan today!

This is my first post on Bluemoon. I have been reading the posts over the last few weeks and have become so addicted to this site that I had to join in. So get the RAG calling (Initiation) out of the way. lol

I think that we will pay the loyality bonus between us. Barca need the money & we need the a world class striker, simple as that. This deal is definately ON!

MUFC Master Card.
Valencia £13m
Owen on a Free
Taggert losing the plot PRICELESS!

P.S. I have heard that Taggert is interested in Sol Campbel. What's going on down at the SWAMP! lol.
Haha welcome aboard pal.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

It seems we are close to sign him

I am just worried about the age of our target players.

Won't go to AC had big fall out with Ronaldinho.
Good point, they had a very public spat at Barca. I think the only real threat as a club to this deal are Inter. If looks like aslong as this "payment" gets sorted Eto'o will be a City player fingers crossed.
