I think we should drop all interest in Eto. His attitude is in question. Anyone can see he does' nt want to join City. The United story is bullshit, but his contempt for a mind blowing offer is there for all but the blind to see. City should move on and or set Eto a deadline if we are that bothered about him then move on. I really think he will be trouble if signed, the warning signs are there for all to see.

Can't agree with this. If there is a loyalty payment written into his contract, and he has not asked for a move, I fail to see what he is doing wrong by insisting that his contract is honoured. I'd do the same (anyone would). His only public statements have been supportive of a possible move to City. Yes he has said that he doesn't want to leave Barca, but he has to say that to trigger his loyalty payment. He has also said that he would be delighted to sign for City, and he shouldn't be judged on some hatchet job written by a hack with an agenda.

I'm not sure the loyalty payment IS in his contract, rather that he sees Barca forcing him out in order to make money. if so, I don't blame him for playing hard ball with them over the money they will make from selling him. He's done as much for that club as anyone over the last 5 years, and from his point of view, they're dumping him now rather than letting him leave of his own accord next year, for purely financial reasons. so much for loyalty from barca. take 'em to the cleaners, Samu.

I wouldn't read anything into today's paper stories. If he joins, we'll soon see how much he wants success here. If he really didnt want to come to us, he'd surely have made this known to other clubs before now. yet no-one else has bid. funny that, it's like they know there's no point.

You must know something we don't.

And you think he wants to join us, deluded is the word that comes to mind.
Do you think we were top of Robinho's list? Tevez's? Barry's?

It's immaterial as long as they give their all on the field.
I hate to break it to you, but there are few players playing at the highest level alive the last time we won anything(or for that matter, even came close to winning anything!). There are very few players that want to come to the club and that's the price you pay for 30+ years of mismanagement. As the last poster says the goal is to get them onto the field, I'm sure Uwe Rosler didn't give a fuck about City before he signed either.

Nobody wants to piss us off at the moment do they? They know that it would be a very risky strategy, even if they were to win the battle for Eto'o, they may well end up regretting starting a war!

No, you sir are the one that is deluded.

Holding onto these false idealisms that were left behind in the 70s. And Eto'o has had more than enough time to say "no - there is no way I am joining City". On the contrary his agent made it quite clear he would join us in the press conference.

Besides, he's a fabulously rich guy with a mind of his own, not a slave. He can do what the fuck he wants. If he genuinely doesn't want to come to City then he will stick it out at Barcelona. There is nothing they or we can do otherwise. His preference might well be to stay at Barcelona and why not? Best team in the world, he's been there for years and so on. But that doesn't mean we should walk away from the deal - we are probably very few players 1st choice, but can offer something that perhaps other clubs cant.

And with Eto'o knowing that Barcelona no longer want him means that he's looking at other clubs. We happen to be one of them, with an attractive "project" and a very attractive pay package.

Well lets hope he does it somewhere else then. This offer has been on the table long enough.

He's happy with our offer. Barca are happy with our offer. Eto'o is not happy with Barcas offer.

Sure we can get all precious, pull out and lose a top 3 striker. Or we can sit it out the extra few days these negotiations will take, and get him. I know which I prefer.

Your original post just strikes me as bizarre, when you posted this in the Terry thread

"Correct kind of offer. This is where we should be, chasing the players at Arsenal Chelsea Liverpool ect. Upset the apple cart, unsettle people, let the twats know were sniffing around, let their players know they can double their pay, make the money do the work eventually they will crack, thats why the Arsenal bloke is getting his don about a salary cap, he can smell the coffee."
