Confirmation that Eto'o has been offered a two year extension on the same money that City have offered (allegedly).

Well what the fuck are Barca playing at?
no way barca will pay him what we have offerd

I'm confused, have they offered more than before or just an extension?

They have offered a two year extension and said they will match what City have offered (allegedly).

There wage structure is very rigid. They will not pay more than 130k pw as they have a very staggered contract spread and because or their limited budget if they broke this then their wage bill would very quickly spiral out of financial control. All payments in Spain are after tax which is why the offer we have made could very well be around the 250k mark that is being spouted by the press.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

because when you think about it, there is no way he would sign an extension on the same terms as he is currently on, given that he can blow that money out of the water either now with us, or when he becomes a free agent.

This will not happen. A few are straw clutching now...

mr positive strikes again! lol
is it £50 per world class player?
im not confident either !

No I bet against a single superstar coming so I am shelling out 50 for Tevez and thats me done then. Lesson learnt.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

That story says they have offered him a contract with the same wages he is currently getting

only joking mate, just hope we can confirm tevez, for me eto'o would be a bonus

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

an extension on the same money as he is on now, which they know he will not accept
not sure why, seems like a game to me

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

perhaps we have a lot to learn, about dealing with players and their leaches, perhaps as yet city are still a little bit naive but so what, the day will surely come when we, and not some semi literate footballer and his mate dictate what they want , city sometime soon will call the shots.lets remember ,those who are not with us are against us . what goes round comes round.

I think if Eto'o fucks us off we should announce Tevez to counter the inevitable negative press we'd recieve.

We've nothing to be ashamed of here. We've acted professionally on all levels. Unless you believe we should not even attempt to attract the best players because we don't belong in the big boys club.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

We're rapidly learning the hard way how these elite clubs play thier game.

Why on earth have we allowed this to leak again? If this is "all part of the PR plan" then Cook et al have dropped a bollock and should never have allowed all this shit... rumour, counter rumour, speculation and counter speculation all with us bearing the shitty end of the stick.

If this isn't part of the plan, then where's our statement confirming we've walked away from the deal?

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

This deal isn't sitting well for me, dont get me wrong I know players dont go to football club's just for the love of the game, and money plays a big factor but this takes it to a whole new level he isn't coming out of this looking anything other than a ££££££££ chaser.

Having said all that it aint my money and i would love to see him pull on the shirt but I wont be mega disappointed if hes stays at Barca.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

If we have to pay someone £250,000 just so theyll play for us then im glad we arent signing him.

A fantastic footballer but i wont loose any sleep over us not signing him

The Barry,Tevez etc of this world are what we need this season

Come next year if weve finished top 4/6 then lets add the eto's of his world

It's just not that simple.

C_T_I_D......

You are the most pesimistic person not just on this forum but on this planet !!!

When i see someone on here saying that we will not get this player then i just dnt even look to see who posted it because i know that it will be you.

Also whats wrong with hoping that we can get SAMUEL ETO'O !!! OMG if we even had a bid accepted for him 3 years ago i would have run around manny with my cock out !!

And my last point why the fuck does everyone think that because a Spanish paper posted something that it is always true ?? They spout the same amount of bull shit as the english media !!

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Just a point.

Eto'o is 28 years old; there is already some concern about his knees and as we all know, strikers have the least longevity of all footballers, relying on speed of body which is the first thing to go. It would be against Samuel's interests to sign a two year extension, taking him through to summer 2012, past his 30th birthday.

If he signed this agreement and left at the end of the contract, he won't command anywhere near as much in wages or signing-on fee. It'd be the difference between getting David Villa on a free, or Didier Drogba. a 5 year contract amounting to nearly £50,000,000 is the way to go for him.

Realistically, he won't play at the top level from 2013 onwards, which is what Barcelona know more than anyone and have offered a clever contract. This way, if he stays, they get to keep an outstanding footballer, the very best of his generation, until he's past his peak.

If he goes, they can blame the player's greed and save face. The contract offered a few weeks ago included a drop in wages of about 10% - and they refuse to pay anyone as much as they pay their Catalan boys, Xavi, Puyol and Iniesta. We are lead to believe that Eto'o rejected this out of principle, and felt with the impact he had for the Club last season, they should offer him an improved contract. If El Mundo Deportivo is correct, then it's highly unlikely Samu will sign the new contract. That said, he may still prefer to see out his contract and get his one last pay-day next summer.

That's not the problem. The problem is how everyone else will say its laughing stock material. Since when have the twats been reasonable about this sort of thing? We might not agree with it but by God we will hear it.
