Official - City end interest in Eto'o [merged]

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Marca reporting that if Valencia dont negotiate then they will move onto Forlan.

Barcelona will give an ultimatum from one week to the Valencia so that it accepts or it rejects the supply of 40 million that Villa has done by David. Laporta does not think to move of that amount although it would be arranged to negotiate within the operation the cession of Martin Cáceres and Keirrison. There is a determining factor. Guardiola has demanded the club that the hirings of the forward, left central and lateral defense are resolute before the equipment throws to walk. And the date of presentation of the players is next day 20 first thing in the morning. If Villa does not want to come, or rather saying, the Valencia does not want to sell, Laporta will give instructions to Begiristain so that it reopens the Forlán option. Villa is the main objective of the azulgrana, but the forward of the Athletic one also well is seen by Guardiola. In addition, its cost would be noticeably inferior since its crossing would leave by about 25 million Euros although its clause is of 36.

Things are developing all the time. We need Valencia to accept IMO, although it looks as though they have Forlan as a backup which indicates that Eto'o is not in their plans.

Got years left in him.

This. He's a world class striker in his prime. Would be a stratospheric signing ;)

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Mail are reporting that Barca are looking at reducing the transfer fee, so that he can then get a signing on fee from us................it's looking good and too much water has passed under the bridge for him to stay at Barca.

I think Villa will go to Barca, and that then just leaves Ribery to go to Real.

United will be looking around for scraps.

Yeah. Eto'o is actually younger than Gareth Barry.

Marca is 100% Real Madrid and just like causing mischief for Barcelona.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Just been sent this by a mate:

From the main spanish sports daily
translated from spanish
Reports in Spain suggest the lengthy transfer debacle surrounding Manchester City and Barcelona showed signs of a conclusion, after the Catalan giants agreed to lower their asking price for the Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o, as the European Champions are desperate to tie up a deal for Valencia star David Villa.
Spanish Sport publication indicate Eto’o has agreed to a €10 million a year contract at Manchester City, but the player has demanded a large compensation package from his current employers which they are seemingly reluctant to pay.
Barcelona have subsequently lowered their asking price for the three times African player of the year in the hope City might then decide to pay part of Eto’o’s rather puzzling compensation deal.
The striker scored 36 goals last season and is widely regarded as one of the finest strikers in Europe, but with just one year left on his current deal and reluctant to sign an extension on the same terms, the two parties are at loggerheads.
Mark Hughes has pinpointed the former Real Madrid striker as the player capable of catapulting City into the higher echelons of English football, while Barcelona have now set their sights on Valencia striker David Villa. The European champions want to use the money earned from Eto’o’s sale to bring Villa to the Nou Camp, and reports in Spain suggest a happy medium is nearing conclusion.
