OFFICIAL: City v Blackburn Post Match Discussion Thread

My top 6

Barry (Steel up the middle, great distribution, fantastic work ethic)
Given (Not perfect - but despite Fat Sam dirty tricks, he made all the saves when they mattered)
Bellamy (Totally inspiring, Covering the whole field, tackling, taking players on, made our other players look good)
Toure (Class - covered a lot of mistakes)
SWP (Tracked back, never stopped running, dangerous until the last kick)
Bridge (Best game in a city shirt, Blackburn never broke him down, he looked good going forward)

Honorable mentions
Stevie - I love this guy. Barely noticed him until the goal. But it was one for the ages.
Richards was a warrior - if a bit clumsy at times. Great match up for the Blackburn thugs
Dunne was tough and put in a great shift, but looked out of sorts
Robinho had moments of class - he'll do better when we aren't playing thugs
Adebayor took a class goal. World class. I was worried he seemed didn't seem to exert himself, especially when he was covering corners.

Bellamy was fantastic today. Some of those darting runs were immense. Some people don't appreciate just how skillfull he actually is. Toure also looked rock solid, And very assured in possession. A truely class signing. And how well did Ade take that finish??? Fantastic! Toure,Barry Ade and Carlos when he came on all looked great. Robbie played well too. I'd still rather play Zabo at RB and Ned instead of Dunnie (although all in all, he was alright today).

It's a bit early to predict anything, but we will face tougher tests than this Rovers team. But we did seem to have a real togetherness which was nice to see. Everybody seems to think we are the Evil Eastlands Empire at the moment (unfairly). Hopefully, the lads will feel agreeved, and it will galvenise them.

Let's hope Sparkys slip up on the touchline is the only one we see all season.

M.O.M
1ST. Adabayor
2ND. Bellamy
3RD. Barry

overall a great team away performance

Barry, by a long shot!

Not one player had a bad game. Could argue who were the best three but don't care. We would have lost this fixture last year, Blackburn were what they are, football GBH! Only slight disappointment was how quiet Robbie was. Roll on Bracelona.

I was well happy with the 3 points today but absolutely shocked at the team selection.

What on earth was Hughes thinking of leaving out De Jong. Today we won inspite of the tactics not because of them IMHO and thats from a pro Hughes man.

Ireland had his worst game for City in I dont know how long, and why ?????? Because he never got beyond the striker once til the 91st minute then , funnily enough, he scored. Had NDJ been playing he would have been doing that all day.

On a positive note, I thought Toure was bloody brilliant. Adebayor did well and scored a cracker. Bridge is a different player with Barry in front of him.

Betterr from Dunne but I guess it helps playing besides a proper CH

ok ok, stats mean shit right . . .

But i found this interesting!

Dunne: 2 clearances, 0 successfull tackles

Toure, 9 Clearances, 2 Successfull Tackles

I like the player stats on the official site, it says alot to me, although most would disagree.

Also

Wayne Bridge: 40 Successfull Passes
Micah Richards: 16 Successfull Passes.

your thoughts?
i thought the only areas where we looked vunerable today was at right back and on the left when robinho was on the pitch. and bridge got a bit exposed, this changed when bellamy went left and tevez came on
richards for me is still not looking right for some reason not the player he was hope he comes good though
robinho is not suited to working back as we know but is still a world class talent going forward but i feel he may be the one who will miss out often especially away from home

You know what they say they are lies, lies and statistics !
I thought micah played well 2day and bridge was the weak link again!
Defenders are supposed to defender rather than make 5 yard passes to Barry! WHO i THOUGHT WAS EXCELLENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ireland was in the exact same position on numerous occasions in the second half, he just wasn't passed to.
