Official Knee-Jerk Reaction Thread

After a great start, we've hit a sticky patch where we're still picking up points and, for a change, proving hard to beat.

Time to stop licking our wounds just because we're not top of the league. Time to get behind the team, starting this Wednesday, and maybe, for a change, stay behind the players instead of slagging them off every time they slip up.
Then we can all get back to wearing tea towels on our heads and waving inflatable fruit about - you know, the sort of stuff that only the most loyal and level-headed fans amongst us do.

Anyone else think that Fulham were actually not bad - well organised and tactically dealt well with our attacking options.
You can`t just say we need more movement - they marked up extremely well and doubled up to break down our attacks in the right areas.
Richards looked short of confidence his spacial awareness is worrying - other than that the team were thwarted by a good disciplined team.

Possibly at 2-0 we thought Fulham couldn´t hurt us in an attaking sense in the way that eg. the Arse can, so some of our front players may have decided not to track back - we have to treat EVERY team the same - we were always going to have a blip though, but we can defo rack up points in 3 of the next 4 games

The anger is misplaced and out of order. A poor defensive performance within the context of an otherwise fantastic start results wise, if not performance wise, to the season, is not the type of foundation normally used for some of the histrionics which have followed on from yesterday's result. Truth is that a hell of a lot of posters do sound like spoiled, arrogant, teenage, tourist, rags. You can find plenty of constructive debate and criticism on this board if you are that way inclined. You can also find plenty of dumb-fuck, knee jerk, negativity, by the same mob of five or six posters...

People react to results in different ways. If someone is angry about the performance and result then good luck to them, their anger is neither misplaced or out of order.

I also think the discussion here since the game has been in the main reasoned and constructive. Just that you get the same five or six members of the defence league who overreact to anything less than "yay, we're brilliant. Hoorah for the team".

As for the rag criticisms it just doesn't stand to reason. We react no differently to how supporters of every other club react when things don't go their way. I think some people are either too obsesse by rags, or think that it's an easy rebuttal to make.

That's just absurd. Being angry about a below par performance, within the context of the start to the season we've had is laughable at best. It shows a lack of objectivity.

Ha! That's very amusing. I think most people will make up their own minds about who the real dumb fuck tubthumpers are...

Wrong. Supporters of the traditional top 4 are prone to knee jerk reactions whenever they drop points. The criticism is far beyond objective and borders on the absurd. We have supporters who are beginning to behave like that. It's plain for most people to see. Spoiled and arrogant. Just like rag and chel$ki supporters...

What is it about Fulham?

Of the 8 away games they have won in the last 4 - yes 4 - seasons, 3 of them have been against us.

In the league we have gone ahead on each of their last 5 visits to CoMS, and gone on to win only once. We have gone ahead on our last 2 visits to their place and not won on either occasion. The last time we beat them Bernado Corradi scored the winning goal, ffs.

In the league cup they put out a 2nd string 11 and it still took 120 minutes to beat them. They have played 3 games in 7 days whereas we have had a week off and we still cannot beat them.

Still, if Fulham are our bogey team, we are certainly Birmingham's. They call us 'the maine road bogeymen'. A win against Scunthorpe on wednesday, 3 points next sunday and we will all feel better.

No need for 24 pages of moaning. It's simple really. Cut out the defensive cock ups and continue to score at the other end. Not rocket science.

movement and communication were both missing a little, I thought. Fulham were very well organised and packed out defence when we had the ball.

in terms of selection then I agree that swp hasn't been sensational this season - perhaps as he does not have someone else breathing down his neck like bellamy/petrov - though I would have played petrov or bellamy wide left - not try to accommodate at least one of them out of favoured position on the right.

playing at home I would have started ireland (if he was fully fit) and see where that got us, rather than starting with de jong - but I am not paid to pick a footy team so who knows what really adds to the selection criteria.

clearly disappointing to let go of a two goal lead that I don't really think we deserved... but don't panic!....and enjoy the ride.

football would not be football without knee-jerks, blue-jerks, red-jerks and so on.... all part of the fun.

I think we have played worse since Tevez as been playing. Maybe the United team as a whole made him look better than he actually is.
He seems to run around alot, then give the ball away to the opposition.

Yes, I suppose they will.

Supporters of all clubs are prone to kneejerk reactions.

Our very own supporters used to be prone to kneejerk reactions even before the money came in. Even your good self may have had the odd moment before becoming a member of the happy clapper defence league.
