Official Match Day Coach Services

A few months back I saw a coach picking up two Altrincham fans for an evening game. Funnily enough I googled who they were playing and it was York away. One was a pensioner and the one about 18 yrs old near the leisure centre in Altrincham. There were about half a dozen already on the coach. So less than 10 in total. I wonder who pays for that?

I’m sure they’ll still be a few city coming back they can pick up

Just thought I would start this thread seeing as we’re being “discouraged” from driving to the games and the public transport clearly isn’t good enough to handle the situation as it is.

Is anybody using the services set up that run from Macclesfield, New Mills and Marple? And how good/bad are they?

Personally I would be interested in something running from the Bury/Radcliffe area. I know we have the tram, but it’s not direct, and I cannot handle the crush situation at the city centre changeover. I don’t mind the walk to the stadium from town but that’s on top of the 40min walk I have to the tram stop in Radcliffe so it gets a bit too much in bad weather.

I’m hoping a dedicated thread might help those at City see the comments.

Where else would people like to see coaches (realistically) running from?

This link suggests it was only running until the end of this year, I haven’t heard anything about it being continued.
Beehive, whitefield. 70's double decker picks up outside boozer 1.15hr before KO. £8 return. It's a great craic. I think it also picks up from Blue Bell and Bury town centre.

Yes they probably do. Bit of a trek as I seem to live in no man’s land and need to catch a connection to wherever picks up. Buses aren’t great at night, every 30 mins scheduled but often don’t turn up. And the nearest bus stop is 20 min walk. If you join these OSC’s do you have to attend meetings as I don’t have much spare time sadly. Bury at Walshaw is the nearest for me I think, still 3.5 miles away, maybe I need to start my own up when I retire.
Got a mate runs a minibus for home games and Etihad South. Goes from Bridge tavern. Sometimes has a spare seat.

Cheers, it’s been mentioned before, but still not ideal.

I think it’s going to be driving and paying to park for most games for the foreseeable as it’s by far the cheapest option for a group of 4 or 5. If parking spaces start filling up quick and/or prices rise rapidly, it might not always be the case though.

Maybe they pick up at the leisure centre first, then head down to the ground and pick up the majority there?

Yes, they do. They also pick up in Timperley. They only run coaches for certain games, and the club subsidises them on occasion. On others, particlarly games in the South East, they organise self drive minibuses. They're actually pretty well organised, and the travel costs aren't too expensive considering the large number of lengthy away trips there are in the National League.

Disclosure: My lad goes away with Alty quite a lot and helped to organise the travel for a while...
