Official Match Thread - west ham v city

A team with one tactic and one vague shape is what we are, with a manager who is completly clueless that different teams do not all play the same style.

The line up against Liverpool was suited to the way they play, more by accident than design because thats all Hughes knows, today the same line up was tried against a team who dont play narrow, west ham play short sharpe passing through a defence, instead of liverpools long balls across to the open side.

It was not a failure of the players, it was yet another example of Hughes complete lack of common sense in the basic`s, the best players in the world can not compensate for being in the wrong place at the wrong time thanks to his clueless one unflexable tactic

to be fair hughes as not got the players to play any other system at the moment i,m sure if he had an left winger he would not be playing the 4-2-3-1 i,m sure its would be 4-4-1-1 but what i would say is a don,t think he,s nos who he would drop
my money would be that he would drop nedum which i think would be very wrong lets just see robbie looked like he picked up a nasty injury today and if thats right he has the ieal oppurtunity to change tactics

Not gutted, disappointed though. Credit to West ham, thought they were really good, played some great football and we got found out. Made enough chances to win the game, had Richards not gone off and Hughes had brought someone on for Robinho at half time it could have been different. Shame, but at least I'm not raging like I was after the Pompey debacle.

Is it just me or did anyone else have a problem watching the game on the media players? I got the first half and then up to 55' marker at the second. Then they froze up and got super slow and every other one went offline. Bad enough we lost but pissed me off that I couldn't even watch the game on my PS3.

That happened to me as well, got the 1st half stream working with no problems but couldn't watch any of the 2nd half.

As for the game itself I can't comment on the 2nd half but 1st half I thought they were very good with their passing, closed us down well and played with a fast tempo, they just lacked quality in the final 3rd. We looked threatening on occasions in the 1st half but didn't have anywhere near enough of the ball to pose a constant threat and were very slack with our passing. That's all I can say about the match though.

How fucking good did we make Carlton Cole look today.

Must be worth a cheeky £15mil bid in the summer? ;)

I think we will struggle home or away without any width, the shape of the team at the minute isn't going to work against a team with genuine width, I like Zab, Kompany and De Jong a lot I really do but I dont want to see us play with all three in midfield as they are at the min. For one thing it prevents Ireland playing in his best role coming from deep and making clever bursts. For me if Zab is gonna play in midfield id play him wide right, SWP not been great lately. Ideally though id slot him back to RB Richards is not the player he was 12 mths ago at the min and a shock to his ego might do him good. Every game I see at the min makes me think how much I took petrov for granted last year despite the fact he was sometimes a bit lazy. He gave us real quality and importantly pace. The prem this year is a poor league and if you look at our season as a whole its a bloody good job for us it is.

watched game at upton park today, not a stream,1st half we were poor i think green had two goal kicks an 1save all 45mins. we were upset when richards went off (we were struggling anyway),west ham always seem to have more options than us,cole looked great (cos we made him). Not having a go at any player in defence,it started further up.
We had no options,we were easy to play against,no plan B.simply found out.
We have no players to make a plan B,Robbies got too much expectation from us,bellers tries hard, but when he's wide for caicedo was ineffective.
We needed a tall player to hold the ball up,phil tried but sometimes 1st touch was poor, still learning tho.
We had no leader upfield(major problem).
Thought shay an defence coped, could be better, but midfield we had gaps which west ham used and as a striking force we were totally inadequate until the last 10.
Noticed vassell about to strip then Elano came on.
Result was fair we deserved nothing from game, thought hughes made errors today and his statement I heard on radio on way home was completely different to what I thought.
He has his badges and experience I havnt. I hope he gets us where we want to be.
Hope robbie and micah ok,looked bad injuries.

What are you Hughes lovers going to say next Friday after losing AT HOME to Aston Villa and then Aalborg 0-2 and 0-1 respectively? Give him more time? Yes, we are shite away from home but sooner or later we are going to come a cropper at home too. Wake up ADUG please and get us a new bloody manager now, before it's too late.

Love the 1st few pages with everyone predicting a City win.

Each week you all seem so sure, then 90 minutes later, predictability

4 wins / 12 points from the last eleven should see us safe for another year.

If you look at who has to play who it could be as much as 43 points to avoid relegation this year.

Any one care to hazard a guess where those 11/12 points will come from?

We could beat Bolton , Sunderland and WBA at home after that I am not so sure.

In fact I am more confident of a point away to Arsenal than I am of winning any of the other three home games we have.

Once we get to 40 points the tension will be over to some degree.

I was dissappointed we didn't get a point last night , on the balance of play we deserved a point but again once we condeded we looked unlikely to get a point.

One point all season from when we concede first I think it is , One point all season by jingos that's a poor return.
