The Milan-based daily "Il Giornale" has published a police report alleging Italian football champions Inter threw away matches at the end of last season in order to increase gambling odds.

Focusing on the last games of the season, when Inter unexpectedly lost a seven-point lead over second-placed Roma, the report alleges former coach Roberto Mancini "deliberately lost and drew games to help facilitate gambling bets."
We got rid of one bent crook in Thaksin and now it seems we have another. Give me an honest man like Hughes any day of the week.

Those arguments were not enough to prosecute him. What does that tell you?

Congrats guys, I'm a HUGE mancini fan.

Been following him since he started he's managerial career in italy. Not a single year past by with him that he didn't win a trophy. HE IS A WINNER.

People (in here) say that he plays a boring football but that is simply not true. With lazio the team played an attacking very compatitive football and he won the coppa italia.

I'm pretty certain that he'll be a success in england. He's a great man manager and knows how to motivate he's players. Personaly i "always" rated him higher than Mourinho. You will like him nodoubt.....
That's encouraging. I think most City fan are surprised at the timing, and a little under-whelmed with the new manager because he's been out of the game for a while.

He's been left some great players to work with, but he'll have a job sorting the defence out

The thing about Mancini that i like is that he always create a winning team out of an "un-winning" teams. When he took over the Lazio job, lazio back then were a team that was struggling soo much with their debts and couldn't sign decent players but he turned that team into a winning team with a very compatitive attitude.

The players played their hearts out and he made some un-known players into a known stars (atleast demosticaly) players like Pandev, manfredini and others. Like i said I'm a fan of the guy and the work that he's done over in Inter and looking back at the Inter that he created i can easilly see a better team than the one that mourinho is creating right now.

Have faith in the guy and you won't regret it....

Now this is desperate!

Hughes had gone, get over it.

Won Serie A more times that AC Milan even though it was fucking rigged by Juve and Milan.

We'll see you muppet. Sven's record looked fantastic on Wiki too.

It's about building for the future. Mancini brought some old 'uns and some young 'uns together at inter, and created a dominant team. He took a joke club, a perpetually overspending, underachieving bunch of egos, and made it into the dominant force in Italy.

We couldn't go on buying exclusively premiership proven players because there aren't enough good ones on the market. Hughes gave us some good players, couple of superb buys, no real stinkers, but no young talent that we could mould and develop into the world class solutions you just can't buy. Overall the squad is poorly matched, just look at the centre backs. They are what was available to him.

Mancini will look further afield, be more adventurous, and attract more good players than hughes ever could. His Inter team was so well matched that Mourinho reverted to Mancini's line up repeatedly despite signing his own players.

Hughes' main success came from players he knew like Bellamy, bringing Bentley and RSC back from the dead, and giving a chance to the Samba's of this world.

Mancini brought the likes of Maicon and Ibrahimovic to the peak of their careers as world class players. I think that someone like that might have a real shot at getting the best out of players like Adebayor and Robinho, and I'm salivating over what he has in mind for the next two transfer windows.

It will be fantastic to be signing young players again, to be looking beyond getting a couple of seasons out of the Matthew Upson's of this world (no disrespect), to the prospect of seeing some of the very best emerging talent out there reach their potential at our club.

...how long do we give him?

I don't start too many topics, but, as a gradually leaning "Hughes Outer" this entire episode today has left a very bitter taste in my mouth.

Regardless of performance, i entered the ground today to be told by a fellow poster that Hughes was gone and Mancini was in, this was before K.O and as i got to my seat everyone around me knew too. IMO, that stinks, what happened to 'plugging the leaks'? I even heard Hughes had resigned this morning but still managed the team today.

The main point of my post is, we've apparently gone for Mancini. A man with no PL experience, a man who has never really excelled at a team that isn't already a title favourite.

I think a lot of us have fans have a romatic notion of City and Mourinho... Mancini, with respect, isn't on the same level as Mourinho, his track record isn't as diverse or as respectable. I don't see what he brings to the table yet...

...I hope he casts my minor doubts aside but this is a shitty way to bring in a new manager, and considering the replacement, very poor timing.

Hang on a minute GStar. I usually agree with most of your posts but this one is wrong. Inter hadnt won anything for 15 years before he signed, hardly a team of world beaters to start with!

What Will Mancini Bring To City?

Tactics, organization, systems, formations, clean sheets, pass and move, flowing football, the pink panther tune and a whole lot more.

I for one wellcome the arrival of a manager who has won the championship 3 times in the most tactically difficult league in the world.
