Re: Should Clark have gone?

I thought on another day, we'd have got a point at least today, but his first on Tevez, although early in the game, was, in my eyes, a yellow.

His second, therefore, would have meant he's off.

Anyhow, 2 defeats in ages is hardly the disaster many are making out.

Well no. Had it been the other way round, it's a debatable point but if he books him for the first challenge, the players mindset is different (Clark)...as well as probably the whole football game. A player gets booked, the game is stopped for an extra 10 seconds, the free-kick is different, the whole game plays out differently etc and the second challenge might not happen.

Had Clark already been booked and makes a daft challenge that should be a yellow card...then it's obviously a completely reasonable point.

Re: Should Clark have gone?

You make a good point, I guess both could reasonably be called as bookings, and he may not have made the second if the first had been given.

City have always been a bit naive in attacking a booked/weak link and today I think despite some good Villa defending, he was it.

Re: Should Clark have gone?

I dont want to take away anything from Villa`s dogged performance, but seen as though the point been brought up.Yea i do think he should of had 2 yellows ,therefore should have been sent off.
Still dont think we would have won tonight, just one of those games.

I thought Webb reffed it well tonight.

Fair play to Villa, they defended like their lives depended on it. Reminded me of a couple of games we won against Chelsea and Arsenal under Pearce. Get a goal on the break and then defend for your lives.

Thought we played OK, and was pleased with Kolarov's performance in paricular. Just one of those days.

sad to see that this effectively ended our title aspirations, but I don't think we played awful. I think our problem attacking is we're too deliberate, unless it's a full-fledged, 80-yard counter attack, we attack at only one speed.

Maybe Milner should have started in CM rather than Barry.

GB seems to wilt at Villa Park...and I feel RM should be a bit more responsive to shifts in form / momentum of players etc.

Look at how Kolarov's game picked up after scoring his first goal v Leicester in midweek.
But Milner's reward for a good goal v Leicester in first game was to be dropped back to sub's bench for Wolves game.

Not enough urgency IMO however general play was good. We are still well in this afew big games coming up which will shape our season but I honestly believe we have the squad to do it. The only problem may be experience they have been there and done that, we have not.
