Official Villa post match reaction thread. {merged - trial}

Re: A worrying trend

While it was worrying that we did not get a free open shot on goal we were also quite unlucky. De Jong had a shot delfected onto the post, and another one cleared off the line. Tevez could have buried Kolarovs sweet corner but it went through his legs.

I thought you guys were unlucky today, it was just one of those days where the ball just wouldnt go in....no need to over analyse this one

I disagree gooney,we did not adopt the best system to beat Villa,we were far too narrow and lacked urgency.

A creative pacey midfielder is a must for me,when the fullbacks weren't forcing him inside,we saw the effect Johnson had on the game,a similar player on the opposite flank would have destroyed them.

It just wasn't our day.

I was concerned when the teams were announced that we would be lining up far too narrow. I thought we played okay but we were lacking one other thing: luck. In all we had 24 attempts on target with 14 of those on target. Our defending was poor for their goal but they showed it only takes one shot. On another day we would've got a few there today. De Jong in particular was unlucky not to bag his first for City. A lucky deflection onto the post. It's disappointing, yes, but I'd just move on and think about bouncing back against Notts County next week. Luck was on Villa's side today. Hopefully it will give the players a kick up the arse though, the defence in particular has been leaky recently.

We lost, yes. We were unlucky to do so. Instead of over-analysing we should just move on and look forward to the cup game next week. We'll bounce back for sure.

Re: We Lost

WOw I needed week to realise that I am off this forum. This is for City glory hunters only it seems

Post defeat rag-style overreaction.........

Post all your Mancini/ our defence / our midfield / our attack out bollocks here.
Also feel free to explain how your own gran would have scored a hat-trick today given those chances and how we are a team in crisis nosediving into 17th from bottom and staring relegation in the face.....

The lack of urgency and desire to drive forward was the thing that stood out. They knew we had to win tonight, maybe some of them cant handle the pressure. The manager can only do so much, its down to the players at the end of the day.
I disagree, that extra spark, drive, call it whatever you want comes from the manager. The Shite have inferior players but they have a desire to win and overcome hurdles which we lack, thats the effect that Wan*er Ferguson has.

I personally didn't see a lot wrong tonight. It's just shit bad luck and it happens. We've had a few games when we've been fortunate to win and tonight villa were fortunate. We've not really had a settled side all season. There's always been someone new starting or a player coming back from injury etc.Once everybody knows each other we'll be ok.

Plenty wrong

Wolves apart when we conceed the first goal we tend not to win
Tevex is way too fookin deep
We tend to start games slowly
Big game to today - Spuds drew and win and there is definate daylight between us and SPuds making a 4th spot ever closer
Tempo too slow and lots of square passing
Dzeko was left on his own - he aint a fookin lone striker
Who season littered with catrastrophic defending which has cost us a top 2 spot definately puts us under pressure for a top 4 and makes a top 4 difficult

Lots wrong lots wrong

Re: Plan B please mr Mancini?

i dont even like plan A
i reckon the players are good enough, its the poor tactics, too much backwards, sideways
not enough forward passing, not enough speed.
the top teams dominate and penetrate ,but this manager is happy to be patient and not concede
but when we do concede the op is correct there is no plan B

Re: We Lost

Did not use the flanks well enough particularly the right side. Although that Geordie twunt Waddle speaks shite most of the time and is so negative towards City at least he did spot our lack of attacking widht - too crowded in the middel too easy to defend- shame really if Carlo had tucked that corner in it would have been a different story-
Dzecko needs games to sharpen him up - he is off the pace at the moment but has a lot of skill. He will come good. David Silva was abit short too- we huffed and we puffed but fair play to the brummies they got a goal - poor pass Kolo- and parked the bus-

Re: Nothing wrong

Whilst I agree we were unlucky, if we want to play through the middle for 70 minutes, then you have to have power and strength driving forward from midfield. Waddle was bloody annoying but he was right, we were making it very easy for them.

It changed a little when Johnson came on but we created few 'great' chances. There were lots of half chances and lots of blocked shots but we not for the first time in games like this, we never tested the keeper.

For all our dominance, Joe Hart was actually called upon to make a sight more saves than the Villa keeper was.

We were unlucky to a degree, but to blame it all on bad luck is burying your head in the sand. There are still pieces of the jigsaw that very much need filling.
