Offside judgement (Laporte v Wolves)

Either thicker lines, and no overlap of the 2 lines before over ruling the on feild decision. Or feet only and the attackers heel must be in front of the defenders feet before over ruling the on feild decision.

There’s a simple fix if the rules stay the same. We have skin tight shirts going forward, and we put a line/design on the shoulder to show where it ends. It’s a stupid thing to do but this isn’t the first time we’ve had this go against us.

Furthermost point of the foot. Forget upper body, heads, arms etc, simple where are your feet. Two lines from the point of the foot and there is no grey area around where does an upper arm start or what point was his left bollock furthest forward.

This isn't what VAR was brought in to check for. It was supposed to be clear and obvious errors and this is plainly not clear or obvious. Im sure we can all remember the odd, rare goal where someone was 2 yards offside and score and whilst annoying at least it was a talking point.

I cannot understand thy the PL want to rule goals out like this. It kills the game, slows it down, bores and frustrates supporters and can be used to influence games. In this case it's possible to give a goal or not give a goal.

They need to start getting a grip on this now. It's an absolute disgrace and is absolutely unjustifiable.

Just change the bloody rule so that only feet are considered, it'll save multiple threads every bloody week. And yes, I'm aware they can't change rules mid season.

Oh wait...
Spot-on. Just using the feet is much easier to see. The other change should be to make an allowance for the lack of accuracy in the equipment. You can't be judged offside by a few inches because the camera shutter speed is not accurate to that sort of level. It depends on when the frame is frozen. Some leeway has to be allowed and in cases of doubt the advantage (as it used to be) should always go to the attacker.

That clearly shows it’s offside (this seasons). It would have be onside last season when the point was the arm pit. It’s now the “t short sleeve line”.

Does it not matter that they froze the action after the ball left the head of Silva and not as it made contact with his head.

Wouldn't have thought it was a difficult process to get that right

Depends if there’s a frame of that. The PL say they use the first frame on it after contact. Id much rather they showed the frame before and after like they do in cricket.

The problem I've got with this nonsense about being as accurate as possible is that you're still fucking guessing.

What is the point of breaking the lines out and watching a million replays when there's realistically no way of knowing beyond the shadow of a doubt anyway?

It's simply bollocks what happened last night.

If he'd have put the ball in the net with the bit of his arm they drew the line from then I have no doubt it would have been given as handball.

F*cking stupid decision.
The very word I used in the post-match thread with the added adjective 'arbitrational'!
