old firm in league

At the moment I agree Disco Dancer, but with the improved revenue surely it would make things more interesting at the top end of the table, instead of the so called "Big Four" you could possibly have 8 teams challenging for the title.

Why would Celtic and Rangers want to be a mid table club in the prem? They'd never have the financial capability to compete with MCFC/Chelsea or even Manure/Arsenal (then they'd have to qualify for league status first as all clubs do e.g FC United, ten levels in all so would need 9 promotions)
WILL NEVER HAPPEN
Mid table?
Are you fuckin joking?

How many fans would turn up to see them play Glossop north end????? Not many so gate revenue would be low - it'd be 5 seasons before they played teams anyone in Scotland would recognise, by then they'd still be getting low gates, it would be financial suicide for them to join English divisions.
That's why they'd end up mid table in the prem, it would take them decades to catch up because European football money would be continually beyond their reach as it has been for MCFC/Everton/Aston Villa/Spuds/Sunderland/West-ham etc.

I would allow rangers to join the English league system and let celtic join the irish leagues

they could both keep their chosen identities
win win as rangers like waving the union flag and celtic that daft irish flag and if rangers and celtic are playing in differant leagues over the years the rivalry and the hatred would diminish

The best idea to me is instead of the top teams going into the League Cups, why not have a British League Cup.
Say the top 10 from the Prem,top 3 from SPL,Championship winners,Welsh & Irish league winners = 16 teams.
No seeding, throw them all in a hat and draw them out.

How many English players are celtic and rangers gonna produce? How many clubs are willing to share there wealth and let clubs in that would surely give them less chance of success?

I really can't see any reason why celtic and rangers should play in england

That wont happen either but I think it's the most realistic post yet.

I think Dermot Desmond is a drowning man looking for a lifebelt, this will never happen I cant think of one reason the old firm joining the english league will benefit anyone. All this crap about big clubs also get on my nerves the ones that spout it the most havnt got a pot to piss in, Rangers are being run by the banks and have been up for sale for a couple of years, so big nobody wants to buy them remind anyone of Liverpool? Up for sale for three years again so big nobody wants to buy them. The rags will be in that situation soon. Where would the Old Firm clubs be inserted in the league? If the premiership they would struggle and it would be doubtful they could qualify for europe as they do now so that loss of revenue would only be made up by the TV money and how would the top two teams feel in the championship if they were told they couldnt take the places in the premiership because Rangers and Celtic were taking those places.
Non starter in everyway.

Tbf to the Mackems I think we were just as happy after we beat Mourinho's Chelsea 1-0 through Anelka's pen in their first Prem title-winning season. Sunderland have been about as unsuccessful as us over the last 30-odd years and in many ways are a very similar sort of club.
