He decided to drive a bus for his employer, Crossley Brothers, during the general strike of 1926 . Sorry but that’s scab behaviour and he was roundly and correctly scorned for it, especially by striking Mancunians who saw it as a betrayal

I got mine off a tout just before the gig and by coincidence it was the same tout I’d bought a ticket for the Villa game outside Villa Park a few hours earlier!
Yeah I was at Villa park that day, in the Villa end (side) quite a few Blues in there when we scored

Edit - they were in there when we didn’t score too, I mean it became apparent when we scored

That’s part of a bigger photo I found and then used in Farewell To Maine Rd. It’s shortly after the war and the bigger image shows few vehicles on the streets and is quite atmospheric, remembering a time when few had cars.
