No. Law played in ‘74 in the Texaco Cup. His final appearance was in that competition against Oldham. His final goal was against Sheffield United in that competition.

Went to Blackpool. I can’t remember which one but I think it was a Saturday and it was hot. I was 15 and it was carnage.

One for our older supporters
This was from a City v Liverpool game, but whereas it's dated 1969, the match report suggest that it might be from August 1967 on the opening day of 67-68
We actually played Liverpool twice in the space of a few months at Maine Road in 1969
The last home game of 68-69 (1-0) and the second home game of 69-70 (0-2)

I probably went to theses matches as I went to most home games in 69/70 but I can’t remember details. There was always violence with Liverpool fans which peaked in the mid 1980s. Always makes me laugh when people go on about the United-Liverpool rivalry. City and Liverpool have always hated each other apart from a brief honeymoon period when United were dominant and we had a bit of a truce.

I went to both with my old fella, Id have 9,
Remember there quite a lot of trouble on the front with mostly City fans running about with the coppers chasing them and yes it was very hot.

All those away days blend into one for me these days. Blackpool was always a good day out. Funnily enough the one I remember most was a bore draw on a very frozen pitch.

Hey, behave. lol. Plenty of us rockers are Kippax veterans from the 70's onwards. Some of us still have our own hair! And yes, I used to go to the Phoenix! Great thread.
Funnily enough we went to the Texaco Cup game at Blackpool, I was only a kid but my Dad "suggested" to my mum we had a couple of days in Blackpool but didnt tell her City were playing and told me to keep quiet about the game ;-)
I remember it mainly for, I think Marsh & Lee taking the piss out of the ref before kick off by making out the ball was not properly inflated, I think they got quite a few ball changed before the ref worked out what they were up to :-)

We played Everton three times in the Cup in our 65-66 promotion season. Crowds weren't segregated in those days and there were plenty of scousers in the Kippax giving Stan Horne the full blast of monkey chants. I loudly let them know that they were the worst supporters in the land but it just fell on deaf ears. When we played Liverpool in the following seasons as marked by these photos I transferred my worst supporters to that lot instead but again without response.
A pity it took a tragedy at Heysel to wake up the authorities and cause them to introduce segregation which is far from perfect but is better than nothing. It should never have been necessary in the first place but there are a few missing brain cells with some persons whose main ambition in life is to spoil the joys of life for the rest of us.
