Oldham Athletic thread

I've no feelings either way on any of these teams Oldham, Stockport, Bury etcetera. Many of them gloated and loved every minute of our darkest days and in those moments I hated the fuckers. We are now light years ahead of them, they are utterly irrelevant where we are concerned so I have no feelings or empathy what happens to them now. I might have had some sympathy but their behaviour towards us eliminated that.

Me and my pals used to call all those milltown folk, Joskins.
i.e Simple country bumpkins.
It used to royally piss them off.
I used to go out with a bird from Chadderton when they had the plastic pitch and they used try and take the piss about em getting Earl Barrret and Paul Warhurst for fuck all, most of em were closet rags

I live in Oldham, and if it wasn't for my parents being City fans then I'd have probably ended up supporting them, as I grew up near Boundary Park. Don't get me wrong, there are many of them who hate City and i've had my fair share of crap off them. I think it may stem from them having played City more than United in recent-ish years. Gotta say though, many Latics fans I know absolutely detest United and would much rather see City win.

To go home and away and watch the absolute dross they have to put up with, I say that has to be respected, and they do seem to have great away support. It will be a shame to see a founding Premier League club end up in the non-league. The new and previous owners have absolutely shafted them and I do feel for em'.

Didn't Notts County and Luton drop from top division to non-league a year or two quicker than Latics are doing?

Edit: Luton and Notts County went down from the 1st Division in 1992. - Luton dropped out of the league in 2009 after being docked 30 points for financial irregularities. - They are now back in the EFL.
Notts County were relegated in 2019 and are in the play-off places at the top of the National League.

Fair point.
But Oldham are a local team who have a strong connection with City (Jim Cassell, Joe Royle, Roger Palmer moving there etc.).
Think it's a crying shame if Oldham get relegated out of the Football League at the expense of, for example, Stevenage Borough.
It would be another example of the Northern clubs (e.g. Workington, Bradford Park Avenue) struggling to survive, at the expense of the more affluent newcomers from the South e.g. Sutton United, Crawley Town etc.
Have been to Boundary Park on many occasions, have had some enjoyable, but wet and freezing times there...
