Just got back from the Church Inn . The pub that's in the middle of Chadderton Hall Park . Had five pints of the Black-Stuff while watching my young son playing on the swings/climbing frame/etc in the pub beer garden .
Was a lovely afternoon/evening .

Was in there myself, around 7pm so must have crossed paths.

The buildings are beautiful round yorkshire street

the gallery and miuseum especially the pubs are all proper solid victorian things

the centre benefits from pedestrian isation

I suppose if the people are shit there'sno hope for it

all up lees rd looks excellent, all nature and that

as a biffo as you like to call us born and bread. Yes thowdham town is poorthese days although not been on yorkshire street from many years.

I echo what people are saying Jacksons is still good thou imo and i like to go there when i get the chance. I dont think its badly run i like how its all bit just works has a rawness about it and sometimes you go in and just by luckyou get a cracking band.

Not been down to the Church Inn for a while always nice in the summer. Used to live near the Rifiel Range and i usedot like it in there.

Moved to Moorside now and on occasion go into theHighfield not a bad pub.

I like the Saddelworth villages some nice pubs round there.

Kings Arms gone a little these last few years for me at the top of Grains bar. Although i would recomend The Black Lad for meals and a few pints still has that old pub feel to it.

Aphex not sure where you are but i try to get walking when i can and was up around Castleshaw and Stanige Edge last night and called into the Royal Oak (The Hights) proper old pub how pubs should be for a well deserved pint of Black Sheep after.

i live about 2 - 3 miles from the king's arms

i like how one half is in lancs, and the other in yorkshire. they do a good angus burger there

the black lad is a nice place too, i have never eaten there but i have had a few

the views are beautiful though - on a clear day you can see blackpool tower from the black lad!

castleshaw and stanige edge are nice also... black sheep. lovely.<br /><br />-- Thu Jul 01, 2010 10:48 am --<br /><br />

played both whittles and jackson's, more recent jackson's.

watched think floyd at rochdale social club - they did atom heart mother all the way through

massively impressed.

Think Floyd played the Rhodes Rock festival last week.....in the ampitheatre in Lindos under the huge acropolis. Very atmospheric and cool place. Put on a great show apparently. However, me and the Mrs ain't Floyd fans so we gave that gig a miss. Rest of the week was great though.

been to lindos. my mate live's over there and has just done a festival with his cover's band

they are a heavy lot mind

yep it was only 7 quid and they did a 2 hour set - i've seen floyd live (earls court '94) and they were actually better than the real thing (i prefer the old stuff you see)

i think i saw you post about the festival.

not sure about froggies? I cant remember it although it may be the age thing im nearly 33 so maybe before my time? giive me pointers where it is and im sure i can tell you what it is now?

Aphex do you no the hights church? the royal oak is at the side of it. Have walked passed many times but made the effort to call in last night its a little gem.

Yesi know what you mean how split the town is. The lancs debate yorkshire debate goes on and on.

Just to echo your words. Walked off ripponden rd last night from my house to counthill school and down to the resivour there took 4mins. Then did approx at 15 mile walk and never really besides walking through delph village for short time, was on country roads and fields with cracking views untill getting back to the top of sholver many hours later.

Lived on Sholver right through my teens....

Oldham used to be a great night out, good bars, loads of fanny (available)... now full of young cnuts who think they're 10 men.... Not been in the town centre since City last played them...

Romeos and Juliets near the round a bout, in the mid 80s was a great place place to pick up fanny. Had a few mad nights in Chaddy squash as well. Even in those days Oldham was always a bit dodgy. Anywhere that has places called Glod dick sholver limeside derker salem and mumps is gonna be pretty hairy.
