He looks like a perfectly usable player for us, perhaps not superb with cream on top but he's solid enough typically to get the job done. He was functional enough last year aswell and i have to say the lad is only 22. I'd keep him, perhas not as first option but playing plenty of matches in rotation.

I'd put any left back in front of him. As they are left backs and he isn't.

Giving him a contract was a no brainer. We got him for nothing, he was covering the single devastated position we had and if we ever decide to sell, we can get nice profit.

Sorry, I like Zin and what he has done was remarkable considering that he played completely new position. But he's just not a left back, let alone a good one. And will never be. If there was place in our midfield, I'd be more than happy to try him there as he deserved it with how he carried himself last few years. But there isn't and I'd sell.
Too bad you're not Pep.:)

I never thought he was good enough at LB. Not even last year. He was doing OK out of position, but was always the weakest part and it was often highlighted when we faced the stronger opposition. This season it just got worse. It's similar situation as with Delph, he was doing pretty OKish one season there, but after that he was liability.

It’s nothing like Delph ffs.

Delph won trophies he never thought he’d touch in his career and checked out to bask in his own head.

Zinchenko has been absolute quality for us.

We have one of the best assembled teams ever and could afford to carry on a player that is not specialist on it's position in the league where we are not tested too often. We spent 130m on 3 fullbacks with one of them being bought to eventually cover the left if needed, though it didn't work. We couldn't spend a fortune on fullbacks forever and buy another 40-50 million LB while waiting for Mendy. There are another positions to invest in.

I know we have very smart people running the club, and bold ones too when they decided to risk it with Zinchenko, but it's silly to think that we wouldn't have liked to add another real LB if we could afford it. It was a risk that kinda paid off and one that no other manager would ever do. Don't forget we wanted to sell him last summer but he refused to go.

It doesn't mean it has to be done in the future too. We have Mendy back, Angelino is there too and if he does any decent job, Zinchenko will have tough time to get any decent minutes. It's probably the best time for both sides to sell him. His stocks are probably highest now than they will ever be in his City future. Both him and us could get a good deal now.
Pep loves him,he won't be sold

He will if Angelino and Mendy outperform him and stays fit of course, we have significantly better players in midfield. No point wasting foreign spot on 3rd left back in that case. Its crucial time for him.

He has been given a 5yr deal,he'll be around the team filling in here and there, you are assuming benny is going to be the same after 2 seasons out, even if he is he is going to take ages to get back to it and assuming angel will settle and prove he is good enough, lots of if's on the lb position, why can't we get it sorted!

I think it’s probably more likely he just transitions into a utility player for us. It’s useful to have someone in team team that can play left back, any of the midfield positions, or probably even out on the wing if we’re really in a bind. Or, some team makes him a good offer and he decides to go be a starter again. It’s kind of win-win either way.

Should've started the game. Wasted a substitution to balance our defence first half. When we have hi and Angelino who have played LB regularly, why play Cancelo out of position for the fun of it?

Dzeko was given deal in Aug 2014, binned year later. Contract extensions mean fuck all if they are not key players.

No he shouldn't have! The reason we got fucked by the counters is because he was on and can't defend a pacey winger.
