We did the same with Arsenal a few years back, buying their' 2nd level' type players. It was said at the time that Patrick ( I know he didn't come directly from the Arse) was the key one. A player with knowledge and experience of winning. Thats what Arsenal need and Arteta is buying it in. Someone to drag them over the line.
 
If City would want 2 LBs, what exactly are we waiting for? Anyone?

Why don't we bid for Cucurella or whoever's next down our list if we want to keep Zinny anyway?

You know the answer:
we want to upgrade our LB position (we aren't selling our best players, are we?),
we already have Cancelo and Aké who both played a combined 3,500 minutes at LB 21/22 (that's over 60% of LB season minutes!),

and that means either Zinny stays and that's shop closed
OR Zinny leaves and probably Cucurella will be signed.

Lucky Patrick I wouldn’t want to come directly from there either.
 
If on the off chance he were to stay i'd be very happy. Call me sentimental but the idea he would sack off arsenal and choose to fight for his place here would endear him to me even more. I understand why others think we need a 'specialist' but he's a great footballer with a great attitude and to me there's always room for someone like that.

That's a bit like when the media say City and Liverpool have shared the last 5 PL titles. It’s true but it’s far more one-sided than that. If Cancelo was to get injured and we need 3000+ mins of Ake at LB we will be royally fucked.

Most won’t agree but IMO Zin has been far more important to this side than Ake. I think we should have taken the money for Ake, signed a cheap 4th CB or promoted from within. Used the Ake money to sign Cucurella or AN Other. Started the season with Cancelo, Walker, Zin and the new LB as our full backs.
