Nice. :)

Trying to figure out the UK's work permit rules.

The Scottish FA’s rules on work permit endorsements follow the same guidelines as previously outlined by the Home Office. For the SFA to give their approval, the player in question must have played 75 per cent of his nation’s competitive games – excluding friendlies – in the two years prior to the date of application.

Furthermore, the country the player is coming from must be in the top 70 of Fifa’s rankings. Failure to meet these requirements, unless it can be proven a player was unavailable for selection for a period of time, results in an automatic rejection of any application for an SFA endorsement for a work permit certificate of sponsorship.

OK, so we need the UAE to crack 70 and Omar to make 75% of his country's non-friendly games last 2 years to qualify automatically for a permit. I'm guessing he's made 75% of those game.

Says here UAE is currently 96

Will winning the Gulf Cup get them to 70?

Is the Gulf Cup similar to the African Cup of Nations? If it is then it could be a boost, to the UAE's rankings.

They have been performing quite well lately. They won 7 games out of 9, drew once and lost once 0-1 against Japan.. I can see them making it to 70 quite soon.

-- Fri Jan 11, 2013 2:45 pm --

Yes, they are considered International friendly games, so, it will definitely help with the ranking.

Thanks for your reply, and if City is reviving the bid for him then it is worth taking another close look at Omar.

You never know how he would cope with Premier League but I like to see player who look so comfortably with the ball.

Less and less players that have that special "aristocratic" touch.

Giovani Dos Santos have it though so it's absolutely possible to be talented as that and do nothing with it.

I really think the permit system is a joke. If not be surprised if it was fixed to constrain certain clubs. Plus I believe it should be easy for law abiding professionals to move country and EU nationals should need a work permit just like any non citizen.

We should have got this guy and Nir Biton. They would have been miles better and cheaper than Sinclair and Garcia.

The way this guy played against GB and Uruguay in the Olympics was fantastic. His ball control, speed and passing are awesome. Once he starts training with City and getting stronger I can see this guy breaking through at City.

With his vision, he can be a game changer. I have rarely seen any player with such vision.

Another video from the game against Bahrain. Impressive assist!!

They also would have been torn apart by the fans when they made a kind of mistake and Mancini would have been hung out to dry by the fans for not bringing in a player that is well known but rather wasting time and money on bringing in players who had never played a high level of football and he is cracking up by signing them.

"Yaya Toure told me that he was very, very impressed with Omar Abdulrahman whilst on trial at Man City and was shocked when he didn't sign!"

"Yaya said Omar was exactly like David Silva and could easily play at the top level!! #Unbelievablereference"
