Omar Berrada to the rags | TLDR: They want to be us

Of course there’s a good dose of cognitive dissonance, he’s deserting a sinking ship before we are relegated. However though being involved in a senior position with a corrupt organisation for ten years he’s squeaky clean and unaware of any wrong doing.

What real relevance is that?

They're a completely different business model, where he won't be able to implement half the things that are in place at City.

He's gone from arguably the best run operation in world football, to one of the worst at this level.

He's got an enormous job on his hands and one that will take a good few years to start to turn. Meanwhile we will continue to evolve as we always have done.
Perfectly put. I know from my sources (who are much better than Nick Harris's) about the battles that Gill & Ferguson had with the Glazers over the years, and how G&F had to pull the wool over their eyes, on things like Rooney's new contract that doubled his wages, and the Van Persie signing.

The Glazers got fed up of this so kicked Gill upstairs and brought in Woodward, someone who'd dance to their tune. They then lost Ferguson as a result, and have been floundering ever since. There's no strategy or slick business model there.

The SEC filings showed that they ideally wanted to sell but, if that wasn't possible (and it wasn't) they needed investment. They got 50% more out of Ratcliffe than his first offer although they had to meet his demand to control football operations. But they're still majority owners, there's more money going out than coming in and sooner or later there will be another battle over how much they have to spend, need to spend and how to spend it. He will be caught in the middle of that.

That Pol Ballus piece sums up the individual I witnessed in my dealings with him at City Matters. No ego and not the biggest voice in the room. Well he's certainly not going to be the biggest voice in the boardroom at the swamp, as all the others will be screaming for attention.

Expect to see him in the crowd in an upcoming match at OT sat next to Jim’ll fix it and chief meddler Fergie. With the commentary stating they got him from their neighbours and he’s the next messiah etc etc.

Soriano was the one we approached when he was CEO of Spanair. Spanair were embroiled in a financial scandal at the time which predated Ferran's arrival in 2008.

Soriano told City he'd be interested in joining us as CEO, but couldn't leave Spanair until the investigation into its dealings were complete, as it wouldn't look right.

Pep was getting caught up in the constant battle for control of Barça & was always seen by the new management as the previous management's appointment.

Txiki was out of football for a couple of years after leaving Barça in 2010.

City essentially wanted to get the old band back together again, but under the stability of ADUG & leadership of Khaldoon.

Soriano was key to this. Txiki was up for the challenge, & after the bruising final two years of boardroom turmoil at Barça, so was Guardiola. Soriano arrived in 2012 quickly followed by Txiki.

However, the Aguerooooooo moment stopped Guardiola's arrival, as City didn't want to be seen sacking Mancini after our historic first PL title.

Unwilling to wait until a vacancy arose, in January 2013 Pep decided to sign a three year deal with Bayern commencing the following July.

It's Soriano who returned to Barça & enticed the likes of Berrada & other key management, admin & coaching staff to City, whilst he put his multi-club CFG dream in action.

Soriano was the key to all this happening. In 2012/13, he was asked about Ferguson's meeting with Guardiola in New York, where the GPC apparently asked Pep to succeed him at Old Toilet the following season.

Soriano told the reporter, if Guardiola were to manage in England, he could only see it being at City, & so it turned out.
We copied the Barca model and we always wanted the Barca execs, it was only going to be a matter of time before they rocked up.

One positive about Omar leaving is that it probably shows all our execs are going to me here for a lot longer and he , Omar was not going to get the top job.

And if the execs are in for the long haul, I am sure Pep is.
