One for the book worms....

On another note i have discovered audiobooks since that frees up my time to do several things at the same time i can "read" a book... like i have 1 hour drive to work each day perfect time for a book... when cooking perfect, when internetting perfect on the PC to run a book...

Well I gave it a go, but haven't been very successful.

I'm alright for a short while but then my 'attention span of a goldfish' thing kicks in and I realise my mind has wandered onto other matters. I've spent the whole time replaying the same bit over and over and over. Ah well.

Yeah, me too. For me reading is something that should take your whole attention, an audiobook doesn't do that... hence why we have to re-listen to it over and over.

well you cant more than try... and even tho audiobooks works perfect for me it does takes some attention to make it function...

Think I've read most of Martina Cole. My favourite is John Grisham ... and read all Patricia Cornwell and Jonathan Kellerman ... Looking for a new one actually !

We've got a crime writer coming into one of our branches in a couple of weeks. I've been organising the publicity for it. His name's Peter James and apparently is fairly well known among crime lit fans. His latest got decent write-ups in the Times and Express, so he might be worth a look.

Peter James has written some great books. Love 'em, and highly recommend.

bump... can say that brisngr is worth a read if you like the eragon tale

Have you read any Simon R Green ?
Nope!!! So what kind of books/genre is he writing... while searching online for Green I found this author Stephen R Lawhead have you heard of him?

Check out Blue Moon Rising by Green, It's fantasy fiction but it's really tongue in cheek and is a fantastic read. He also wrote the Hawk & Fisher series, which is a crime series but in a fantasy setting.
The best series he wrote is the Deathstalker series. It's a cross between Star Wars/Dune/Aliens and just about every other sci-fi or fantasy book you care to mention. He blatantly rips off so many other authors and genres that it doesn't really matter. The books are non stop action from start to finish, really gory too. It's pure pulp fiction and it's brilliant. You need to read them in order though.

I'm a huge Peter James fan... I've got all his novels, the Roy Grace series being my favourite... IMO one of the best crime writers of all time... Call me crazy but when I read his stuff it reminds me so much of Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes but in the 21st Century.

JoTS... If you have details of this event I'd like to know.

P.S. If anyones interested Peter James's Roy Grace novels are

Dead Simple
Looking Good Dead
Not Dead Enough
Dead Man's Footsteps.

Much appreciation to everybody that has contributed to the thread. Loads of great suggestions and discussion but no arguements which shows that us book worms are the most diplomatic of the lot ;)
