One for the plane spotters

I went to Basel quite a few times in the early 90s when the RJs went into service with Crossair. Did you know that you were the first airline to operate the Avro RJ (as opposed to its predecessor, the BAe 146). The first one was an RJ85 HB-IXF that was delivered in April 1993. That one's now with Malmo Aviation.

I'll get my anorak.

Not only did I know that, but last Tuesday I had lunch with the pilot who flew the first revenue flight. I paid as he won the bet as to which of us could lose the most weight in a year.

Him -300g me + 3.2kg :-(

No I'm purely flying a whiteboard and a sim these days. But trained most of the Helvetic Embraer guys and the last 3 years worth of RJ guys. Will be doing all the Cseries training next.

Oops, quoted the wrong post. It has nice little dig at the RAF on here ;)

They only have firm orders for about 250 so far which is not good. 30 for us to start with. The project has had loads of delay and a bail out. It would kill bombardier if it failed. At least they've got the fly bye wire working now.

30 not too bad for you and your guys then considering you only have 20 avros at moment ?

Business booming in those Swiss hills these days ?

Lots of fleet restructuring going on. They will replace the RJs and the 7 190s Helvetic fly for us as well as route expansion which has already started. We have some very undermanned routes at the moment. Manchester being one. We're down to 2 flights a day from 3 and 1 a day at the weekends. It's shit for me as I'm always sweating on my discount flights as everything is fully booked.
