one one clive allen

He was properly hard done by at City. The first away game I ever went to was a cup tie at Port Vale, I'm sure Clive Allen came on as a sub when we were losing 1-0 and turned the game. We won 2-1 and he was promptly put back on the bench for the next match!

Correct. Wasn't it a header from a corner straight off the bench?

indeed, he was my favourite City player at the time and he scored a header with his first touch as sub against Port Vale.

I had a violent hatred of inchy Heath as he was totally pathetic and kept Allen out of the team. It was the old Everton boys club in those days and even though we did well under judas Kendall and then Reid I could never quite forgive them for the way they treated Ian Bishop and Clive Allen.

Yeh that was it. I dont have anything else more to add but I just wanted to get my post count off nelson.

Kendall played Heath eleven games on the trot without a goal whilst Clive sat on the bench, the maddest ever decision surely. I loved him.

-- Fri Jan 20, 2012 10:45 pm --

Kendall played Heath eleven games on the trot without a goal whilst Clive sat on the bench, the maddest ever decision surely. Brings back memories!
Just recently bent the ear of a mate with the story of the way Clive Allen was blanked by Reid.
Never forgiven him for it.

Me too. Must have been something going on. Anyone with an ounce of football knowledge knows that these two players were on a different level. Heath was terrible!!!

I was there, although there weren't that many who went to Chelsea in those days... at either end!
