I bet we've got nowhere near as many season ticket holders as we used to have. Every season, season ticket holders are dropping off and the club are turning those lapsed season tickets into match day ticket sales. The less normal season tickets we have, the better for the club. The club will say they are now offering Flexi-Gold(con) season tickets.
I've noticed that where I sit over the last few years as well. Seasoncard holders in the past were replaced by new card holders, but now it's a different person sitting in their seats at every game if one of them can't attend anymore.
I'm not criticising the new fans for turning up and, usually, spending hundreds of pounds in the process, as they are Blues after all, but it has detracted from the social aspect of attending the games, which I find the most disappointing affect of the new policy.
Our small community of blues, sitting together and chatting away amongst ourselves for years, is slowly being eroded.
I remember when we moved from Maine Road, the club were sympathetic to the wishes of season ticket holders staying together in those little groups that form friendships over many years, so it is an important feature of matchgoing for many people, myself included.
I have my limit about how much I am prepared to pay to watch City. I'm now a pensioner with a modest income, and I receive the concession all of us old gits receive, but it's not just the price I pay that will contribute to the decision I make about renewing or not. If I increasingly find myself sitting amongst strangers at every game, it will be the loss of the community feel I enjoy combined with any price increase that will tip me over the edge.
