Open Letter on Season Tickets and Pricing | Club announce price freeze on "general admission season tickets & PL match tickets" for next season (p163)

Did our protests in the 80s and 90s achieve anything? Swales was still in power more than ten years after the "Swales out" chants began.
We kept admission prices at a reasonable level to retain fans after we slumped from 5th in the old first division in 1991 to the third tier just seven years later.
The recent ridiculous price rises are due to our success, but there must be a way to get a better balance in order to retain long-term fans while still attracting new ones.
Maybe the plan is to reduce season ticket numbers so they can make more revenue from single match tickets so they can then reduce the price of season tickets.

If this is the case the ground will become (if it isn’t already) a heady mix of old buggers, tourists and rich locals!

As long as us old buggers can still get in.

Can someone please explain to me why it has suddenly become wrong to be an older fan?
In fact why it has suddenly become terrible to be an old person at all. Football fans don't want us, even though we kept supporting. The club, according to some, don't want us even though we were there through the lean years. The Government don't want us even though we worked all our lives and paid our dues. Why???

Thank you,

In the eyes of who? I am 36 and I love going to aways, seeing the weathered older fans who have seen the lot. The club won't like you, you will be approaching cheaper pricing through them, won't spend a fortune at the ground and fill their pockets.

Can the season card definition officianados answer me this question please. Why do you think a flexi-gold is not a season card but a “full season card” that allows you to transfer on or resell 19 home Prem games a season is.

I’m not talking about the excessive annual fees.

See @NJMCFC184 M's response, that is about a Twitter (X) posting but if you look on here there are plenty of folk who don't appear to like old people going to the games. But I don't want to divert the thread. Sorry, I shouldn't have let my thoughts intrude on this thread. :-)

It feels like banging my head against a brick wall with you Tim… :’)

With a flexi-gold you have to login and buy tickets for each game, therefore it’s an ‘access membership’. With a seasoncard you buy tickets to all games in a league season under one ticket.

The club, as an absolute minimum, should offer fans the CHOICE between FG/SC. The fact they are planning to only offer one shows which benefits them more (at the expense of us fans).

I agree there should be both new season cards and flexi-golds. I’ve said so many times.

For me there are bigger issues like excessive match day ticket prices, encouraging local Schools to bid for the heavily discounted tickets City seem to offer for some games, more sensible stewarding and slashing the flexi-gold annual fees.

From a football point of view, we pay low prices for our season tickets. I pay the equivalent of £23.50 a game for a seat they could sell for 3 times that as a one-off.

From a government point of view we cost too much money. Half the DWP's entitlement payout is on state pension and other entitlements for pensioners increases that. Then there's increased cost of medical care, etc. We're a financial burden, despite you, me and many others putting in (in terms of our overall contribution to the coffers and society in general) far more than we'll take out.

Snap... I sing and shout my head off in 125. For the Madrid match last week I was in 123 as I changed my seat to be next to my granddaughter and I was the only one singing there as well. In fact I spotted one bloke turning and laughing at me when I shouted out to Bernie to keep going. And a couple of looks from people when I joined in Johnny, Johnny Stones song!! I am 83. :-)

A lot of our young fans need a kick up the backside regarding atmosphere, the **** teams we have had to watch over the years but we still backed the team vociferously...but apparantly it's the tourist who are to blame ? Do me a favour...

The guys who are trying their best to raise the atmosphere are often flogging a dead horse. Credit to 1894.

Btw, It’s lifelong Blues of many years who sing up in my block too.

Less than 50% of Anfield is made up of season tickets. I think we have 40,000 season tickets which is about 77%.

Liverpool are getting a lot of credit for freezing prices but having such a low percentage of season tickets is ridiculous and will be used by our club to justify not selling new season tickets despite any capacity increase.
