Open Letter on Season Tickets and Pricing | Club announce price freeze on "general admission season tickets & PL match tickets" for next season (p163)

The letter has gone in to early in my opinion.
The costs for next season are still under review as there is a real anxiety within the club that we could end up in the Europa League.

That means lots of Sunday non televised games.
We use the same route to the ground whether it's Saturday or Sunday.
OK, I'm being a bit of a smart-arse. The main problem I see with more Sunday games is that public transport is worse on a Sunday in most areas, and non-existent in others.

The thinking behind the letter going out now was to voice opposition to a price rise before the club has announced season ticket pricing for once. Hopefully also forcing some meaningful engagement, because the club just refuses to discuss it from what City Matters minutes look like. Every year it's the same story, hopefully a change of approach will see something different.

You're all right though, matchday pricing is a massive issue, arguably larger, but to be fair it is mentioned in the closing statement of the letter. There's a lot of things to take the club to task over, I don't understand why the letter has got criticism for people actually doing something for once.

I think before we send a letter to the chairman pertaining to represent all fans we should actually ask the fans what their main concern is. Season ticket holders are a small minority of our fans base , the ability to buy individual match tickets and not be rejected while they spring up on re seller sites with no criteria is a much bigger barrier to the legacy fan base. Strangely the upper echelons of the supporters groups who are all likely season ticket holders choose to ignore that and send a letter to the chairman asking for a reduced price of season tickets next season
You obviously didn’t read the whole letter then. Because if you did, it also covered the often extortionate match day ticket prices that members are subjected too.

As for your point about tickets ending up on re-seller sites, yes that’s a problem too but maybe you should aim your ire at the club on that one, given that they’re arguably the biggest culprits of the lot.

Be lucky to end up in that.

We may have been discussing it but who decided what was the most important issue to the extent it needed a direct and public letter to the chairman signed of by the majority of supporters groups?
Given that the majority of fans in the stadium on any home league match day are season ticket holders, then it’s obvious the main crux will be season ticket prices. But as I’ve pointed out above, the letter also mentions match day pricing. You may have missed it but 1894 have tweeted many times about exorbitant match day prices and have tagged the club in those tweets too.

The letter also goes to great length to state how wrong we think it is to only offer Flexi Gold tickets and no new season tickets to fans wanting to get on the season ticket ladder, and also that the £150/£75 Flexi Gold tax should be removed.

In short your post is full of ill-informed bullshit. A cynic might think that anyone picking so many holes in it as you have - holes that aren’t even there by the way - is shilling for the club.

if something is demonstrably true it's true not a slur libel or pile on

sir kevbin OBN has been rightly dumped by canal street blues for trying to form a break away group and staging an attempted coup to make the group more "heterosexual".

A daft idea like making Didsbury blues more Eton Tankers, more concerningly it was "reported" hints of racist homophobic and transphobic tweets to a person I trust about the reason for a split , as yet unpublished . Sounds plausible.

When I was chair of CSB I asked Sir OBN to reflect on the fact he rigged the first elections with city staff to get voted on to the inital city matters he won 200 + votes the other candidate 7000 + an indian guy. Racism comes in may guises

Like trump Johnson truss korbyn some people have zero self awareness and maximum sence of entitlement .

When I discussed with Danny Wilson and Omar in an hour long exit meeting exit after I left CM partly because of Kevin's duplicitous behaviour (you know the stuff agreeing with CM then doing the opposite with the club) the election rigging dishonesty, destroying trust and credibility of CM and the disgraceful way city engaged with Mark the disabled supporter's rep their response was defensive Omar even said would enacting the proper result even make a difference?

As they say power corrupts total power...you know the ending......he's held back the OSC for a decade and its a shame for all the regular members.
What i would like to know here is why are you mentioning this only now if this was the case years ago ? And what was the reaction of the others on citymatters at the time ?

Surely if someone is rigging the election it is the club themselves ?

I’ve no idea how the badges for the letter were collated. You seemed to give the impression that Kevin and the OSC weren’t supporting the letter. Anyone can make a genuine mistake.
My own take on this is that Kevin Parker clearly supports the letter but he bottled out of sticking the OSC moniker on it, instead hiding behind his role in City Matters to endorse it.

Now in a way, I can kind of understand that Tim because the OSC, unlike most of the other groups, are not independent of the club so it puts them in a more difficult position. However, Canal Street Blues are part of the OSC and City Matters are the official MCFC fan advisory board and their names are on it so all things considered, it’s not really an excuse for the OSC’s name not to be on it. And if the OSC had put their name to the letter, that would’ve added huge weight to it because they have more members than all the other groups put together.

Sadly, the club doesn't care about the fans now; they regard them just as customers to extract money from. The locals are being priced out and will be replaced by tourists. The club doesn't care where the fans come from as long as they can sell tickets. The days of cheap tickets, turning up, and paying at the gate at Maine Road are a distant memory.

I don’t know mate. I think from a Comms points of view this letter should continue to be communicated as a united / cohesive front from City supporters groups. Instead, some of the excellent work underpinning the letter is getting a bit undermined on here.

You make a valid point that the OSC is not truly independent from City. It’s more than that. Most of the people I know who run Branches aren’t that interested in the politics. Of course we all support affordable tickets and many do a lot to help Blues / members with more affordable tickets.

Every Branch is different but I think it is British values to stand up for the underdog whose subject to a pile on but has no right to reply because they don’t use this forum.

In addition. I just don’t want this forum to go downhill in divisions, like it did five or so years ago, especially given the great work of Ric and the Mods.

Anyway, hopefully the joint letter is a big success and there are season tickets and cheaper match day ticket prices, next season. Thank you again for everyone whose contributed to the letter. We will carry on the glory of the City. Leaving City in first place.

People at the club reading this must be laughing their bollocks off at the in fighting.

The club has been laughing it's bollocks off for years reading every season ticket, match day ticket, away ticket, match day atmosphere, etc, complaint thread. :

I honestly don't think they care about anything we post on Blue Moon, bar reading and scrolling through it on their lunch breaks at the Etihad.

Come the start of next season, they will implement what they've already decided, regardless of what we think and want.

Not that I'm a cynical person by nature.

And the sycophants think the sun shines out of Khaldoon's arse, he's a businessman who's a good orator, the club do not give a shit about local fans/legacy fans, they are solely motivated by how much money they make and the tourists who will NOT be here if we continue the way we are this season on the pitch. They have alienated local fans who are now out of the habit of going to games all for short term gain, zero foresight especially with an extra 7-8000 seats to sell.

Tim

I know many branch secretaries all of whom say the same things, fed up of random non-City fans in the seats round them, the cost of football now, feeling marginalised by the club in favour of tourists/ day trippers and groups of awa fans such as Feyenoord and Bruges doing what they want in our ends with stewards throwing out City fans if they complain about it - you may be surprised the FG/season ticket issue is very big because if this isn’t reversed the generational links will be broken. They all say they are getting 2-4 away tickets per game and then find a group from chicago or Hollywood next to them with people who have literally joined that branch just before simply to get a ticket.
This week alone I went to 2 branches and met 50-60 at each branch who are all 100% for the letter and say if the OSC committee spoke up more (they don’t see why they are so quiet all the time) then the OSC members would completely back that stance.

That’s obviously a matter for the OSC committee but I can absolutely guarantee you mate we went to see some branches to take the temperature in the room on all issues and the fans are happy for it to escalate.

From my perspective as a so-called legacy fan.
Good on yer for doing the letter.
It’s in the open so it will need a response. It can’t be ignored because to do so would alienate a big % of supporters who once gone, are unlikely to ever return.
I’m not going to dissect who signed or didn’t sign as it dilutes the message.
Which boils down to,
We want affordable tickets for all fans attending.
We want our local support to grow not diminish.
We welcome new fans from all across the world but not to the detriment of the life blood of this club.
We want our owners to recognise the financial hardship that the Greater Manchester area, when compared to other areas, lives with and provide affordable and proportionate prices to those people. Many of whom propped up the club when it was completely on its backside (remember the 2 year season ticket to help with finances?)
There are so many opportunities for the club to win back some of the lost trust if they see sense and act accordingly.
Whatever the outcome, it won’t please everyone, but any step taken to repair some of the damage done will be progress.
As a season ticket holder of many years I may not be the recipient of any goodwill the club offers, but if that means we get lots more local people, young and old people whom are supporters of the club, not influencers, social media types, people wearing other clubs hats, scarves or shirts, or tourists with no affinity to the club, then that will be a great success from my perspective.
Well done to those that are acting in the best interests and on behalf of all us true blues.
