I think it is a very well choreographed and superbly executed opening ceremony.
But I am forgetting this is the parallel universe of Bluemoon, where everything is always shit, and everyone is a ****,so I must clearly be wrong.

My thoughts exactly.

Watched most of it in a drunken haze but I do remember things that I enjoyed.

The Queen bit. Atkinson. The rings. The towers. The music (apart from Arctic Monkeys and McCartney). Abide with Me brought a few tears. The final flame thingy (until someone told me it was done by the bloke who did the "B" which means it's going to fall apart).

All in all very well done.

I thought it was brilliantly produced but I'm not sure how much of the historical symbolism would have been understood in many countries around the world. It did get a bit tedious at times and the queen looked bored shitless but then she always does.

The only hiccup I noticed was McCartney fucking up the beginning of Hey Jude although Hazel Irvine should get her back doors smashed in for saying that Mozambique is on the west coast of Africa. All in all it was very well executed, especially the brilliant flame lighting sequence, and top marks to the drummers for keeping playing while competitors from all 204 countries filed past.
