Opening ceremony

It was fantastic if not a little long. The Industrial age scenes were the highlight for me. Never heard of some of those countries taking part though lol.
Loved the drummers throughout.

The fictional character James Bond was more realistic than Beckham driving the speedboat anyhow.

I reckon 90% of the foreign viewers of it must have thought what the fu ck is going on.

Mcartney miming out of sync with the opening number was priceless.

I bloody am now you mention it. Anyway, you're a tunes man, what was it they played when Beckham was driving the boat, the torch journey part?

Please.

I can't remember that far back.... I'll rewind the sky box and find out if you want...

Found it, can't say I knew it before but it's on my playlist now.

My thoughts exactly.
and mine

+1

Greatly enjoyed!

+ 2 , amazing show

I'm forever blowing bubbles,
pretty bubbles in the air,
they fly so high, nearly reach the sky
then like my dreams they fade and die.
Fortunes always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
pretty bubbles in the air !

I watched it in 3D at my son's house and it was FANTASTIC, AMAZING, and I think Danny Boyle did us proud. The only bit that grated was the last bit where Mc Cartney once again showed that he cannot sing!! Time to retire for him I think!!

Loved the NHS bit and the way all the speculation about who was going to light the final flame was handled was brilliant with the young generation taking over. Again well done Danny. The Queen was sooo cool in her segment with Daniel Craig and showed her sense of humour as well.

We can be proud of being British. IMHO

I thought it was superb overall and brilliantly executed. Mainly through endless hours of practise but also through luck nobody made a mistake until that parody of himself McCartney which considering the scale of the thing was an incredible feat in itself.

I did think the music/technology section was horribly misjudged however. I can see what they were going for but it just didn't work at all.

Well I'm usually very cynical about these things but the ceremony was brilliant, it may have been baffling to some of the world, but fuck 'em this is our Olympics and our history. Good to see our humour (Atkinson) and our music been shown off. Beckham should just fuck off back to America now but part from that I thought it was a great spectacle. McCartneyshould retire this guy would turn up to the opening of a fridge door, he can't sing, he screwed up the miming of Hey Jude and frankly he was the let down that I expected. oh and what the hell was Trevor whatshisname doing the commentary for, he's nothing to do with sport?
People should embrace this especially you younger ones because you'll never see this in our country again and you will regret it later on in life, this from a very cynical person by my own admission, I would love to go down and just soak up the atmosphere but shifts won't allow it, and at £7.20 a pint I'd have to stay sober as well.
