Opposition view: Arsenal

Alright chaps. I expect you are getting quite a few of us looking oh here today. I thought I'd put my 2 pennies in. In regards to the poster asking why we are not making a stand, there is a group that was formed last year called the black scarf movement (named as black was the only colour Nike haven't used as a kit colour) and we had over 2000 people demonstrating before the Swansea game in December. It was all over the press, Sky sports etc even a German TV crew that got wind of us when Schalke beat us in the CL where there and the prices of tickets was one of the issues being raised. The core Arsenal support do stay away, all the pubs around Holloway road, Finsbury Park are rammed with Arsenal that simply refuse to pay these extortionate prices (especially seeing as our dear Stan from the US is hell bent on stripping us of our assets). It's a disgrace and in regards to paying high prices away, you should see what he had to pay at Chelsea and even QPR last year. I even paid well over £50 to see you lot earlier this season. These people are living in the clouds and its us mugs that have to take the brunt of it.

There are also other supporter clubs such AISA who have lobbeyed the board for close to 2 years to reduce ticket prices. These people just wont listen however. I applaud your stand to send back these tickets, it's a fucking disgrace.

As for the "Unfortunately a lot of their supporters seem to have lapped it up." You don't know many of us do you chap? If you think that we pray to the altar of this board, that Arsene and his constant whining about other clubs and how unfair it is that they have more money then we do (even though we spend so much on wages for players who we cant even sell on and who no longer play such as your Denilson's and Djourou's etc) is a mantra we all follow then you are as deluded as he is.

There is a massive divide between fans which are the ever diminishing Arsene Knows Brigade (lovingly referred to as the AKB's) and the other half who are sick to the back teeth of the constant lies that are spoon fed to us by the king of spin himself, Ivan Gazidis (a Man City fan by the way). There are people who only jumped on the bandwagon at Arsenal when football became really popular and Arsene FC was created. There are some who genuinely think that the club didn't exist before their deity arrived in '96. Anything that comes out of the mouths of their dear leader and board is the truth and all the talk about the evils of city (used to be Chelsea) is the only reason why we are now footballing also rans.

There are many, many of us who will support the team through thick and thin but will no longer put a penny into this club whilst the current regime exists.

It's got nothing to do with having an entitlement to win trophies, it's the constant lies and bullshit, the constant pining for this fantasy which is Financial Fair Play. It's a fucking joke. Unfortunately for us it wont be ending any time soon. Still for a shitty club with such horrible supporters like us I imagine you lot wont care which is fair enough as we didn't care when you were doing nowt.
Great post. Arsenal used to have a brilliant fanbase in the days of the North Bank. It was a great away trip and City fans who went there were welcomed which was never the case at Spurs. There are thousands of Arsenal fans who have been priced out of watching their club and in some cases they have even been priced out of the area which is much gentrified now compared to 30 years ago. Some of Arsenal's new fans are obnoxious and behave like rags but you can't stereotype them all like that. The key thing for us is that we must, at all costs, try to retain our roots. So far our owners have shown an understanding of City's traditional community fanbase-the total opposite of Arsenal's owners. Fans of all colours must stick together on ticket prices. If we don't we will all be shafted.

Cheers for your comments skipper. That club that you used to go to back in those days is long gone. Unrecognizable to what we once were.

And whilst every club has their fair share of divs, there is no question that the manager's accolytes, the Post '96 crowd really are a bunch of clueless and very sanctimonious souls.

Stay Lucky mate (except this weekend of course).

Don't think it's you gunner posters.

If we had just won at the swamp 10 - 0 and fergie announced his retirement due to the loss effective immediately and started a thread call "Love and Peace"...

...3rd page, 3 bans two offers to meet up and sort it out 7 warnings and 99% of posts reported.

Are you implying we are not a placid, contented lot? Outside...now! ;)

To be fair, some good posts from the Gooners. The ones posting on here are clearly genuine fans. Good luck to them...with effect from 14 Jan.

Hello peeps.
Just another Gooner adding my pence worth.
Just thought i'd say (for those of you that think we're sitting down here allowing ourselves to get ripped off, and doing nothing about it), the main problem we're having is that when we do organise a protest. Everyone on that march has different agendas. So the point gets lost completely. Everyone starts shouting for different things, and no-one gets any of them.
I'm getting sick of it now.
Also, gotta say, it is a bit ironic that the loyal fans of the richest man in the worlds club are boycotting a game over prices. Especially when you only charge a fiver less to us (so i'm told by a couple of our away supporters).
Don't see how anyone can say the arrival of Abramovich and Mansour hasn't inflated prices/wages either. With one or the other, all they had to do was see what Arsenal would offer, then offer more. With the 2 of them, you're competing against each other. The rest of us are left hoping for affordable scraps!
Some of you are also missing the point that...... though we did used to pay some of the highest prices going for players. We earned that money through winning things. So, I don't see how it's hypocritical of some Gooners to be so bitter that you guys suddenly have unlimited funds, and an egomaniac at the helm (why else spend £1.5 billion on a football team, if not just to boost profile?). Esp' having a brand new stadium land in your lap after all the $hit we've gone through paying for ours!
Then again, you've waited a long time for your "luck" to roll in, and i'd rather see City with your ex-gooner contingent winning silver, than fu(king ManUre.
Never been to an away game. This is my first season as a season ticket holder (though i've had to go 2's up on it, can't afford £1500). Sunday will be my first time seeing City live. So, i'm just hoping for a good game.
Hope you guys that do make it down have a good day out too. Just get your beers in a local pub, and bring some whiskey in the hip flask. Em's is a rip off. Well, London in general, really. And it ain't gonna change any time soon unfortunately.

Just remember it was your club along with the scum, liverpool, Suprs and everton that forced the FA to allow the PL to break away from the football league so you could keep more of the TV revenue.
It was the formation of the premier league ane the increased Tv deals from Murdoch tht opened the gates for Roman and the good Sheik to invest in clubs.
Just because you are no longer able to spend more than the competition, because of the demands of your board, dont be blaming us.

1500 a season ticket! jesus. mines just over 500 for the champions, but i must be lying about that cos if it wasn't for our wages being so high arsenal would charge less for fans to watch football. I find it amazing that our wage bill effects your pricing and not ours.

I FUCKING HATE ARSEANAL FANS,bunch of *****,ive crossed swords with many of them over the years on footy forums and slimey cant describe them enough, fucking strange fuckers who celebrate a bank balance more than a thrpphy ,FUCKING ODDBALLS

Lovely thoughts.........ever thought of working for the U.N

Never had problems with the true Arsenal and always and a good time at Highbury in the past

They're a strange bunch along with spurs fans. I think it's fookin hilarious that they blame us for their club charging such high prices. Iv heard it all now. I think they're just cracking up due to the fact that they're no longer contenders for the title. My uncle is an arsenal fan and aimed a nasri style attempted headbutt in my direction on Boxing Day because he couldn't handle being put in his place when attempting to slag us off. Really cracking up lol
Did he get sent off, classic, one thing about us city fans besides being cynical is we could wind a Buddhist monk up?

tbf, I'd done no research into figures, and i've not got the greatest memory! Plucked that figure out me proverbial. Knew you guys could correct me, so couldn't be bothered to google it.
Still, i think some people are bitter that the richest man in the world wanted a new toy and chose you guys. I can't deny that.
We're also bitter that we have to pay so much to even pretend to keep up (i know, we're not even keeping up tbh), when you guys are subsidised by a rich man paying proper season ticket prices and winning silver to boot. You'd be bitter if you were paying more than Utd fans if they were winning all the trophies too!
Mansour knew he wasn't buying into the richest fan base going (no offence, but you guys don't have to live with London prices, most of you actually live in Manchester, unlike Utd fans). So you don't have any of this capitalist $hit we're subjected to! Be happy that we're the frustrated ones!!

don't recall arse fans complaining when russias richest man joined the club

hypocrites

You say that you could afford high wages because you earned it by winning things.

One of the reasons you won things was because businessman put their own money into your club to make it better.

Selective memory or hypocrisy?
