OS: David Platt joins City [Merged]

Yeah, a guy who has a UEFA Pro A Licence and designed training drills with Van Gaal, who has written advanced (and well received books) on the subject of tactics, runs his own tactical coaching company (which does very well for itself) and helped bring through most of the 'Golden Generation' from U-21 level, is actually a clueless no mark because he said some things Bluemoon posters disagree with
But please tell me what the fuck he has actually achieved as a coach?
What's he won?
What's his managerial trophy haul?
Where's the quotes from players who have benefitted from his input?

What I can't understand is why some City fans can't grasp why this is a deeply unpopular appointment by the club and try and defend the situation?

I love City and always will but that doesn't stop people being pissed off and critical with this. For me the thought of that prick even wearing the tracksuit of our beloved club knocks me sick!

Mark Hughes was a fully fledged Rag yet he had more dignity and respect in his little finger than this prick has in his entire body.

So you admit to it just being a personal dislike and if it´s good for City or not is disregarded?

He won't be good for City the bloke is an epic fail. He was the most overrated England footballer I've ever seen (apart from Carlton Palmer). But yes personal dislike also plays a part. I don't want to see tossers who publically slag off the club I love then employed by them! - is that so wrong?

You've made your position quite clear that Mancini can do no wrong. That's your right but I think you've only been a fan since he arrived so I'll give you some City history.

We used to have a manager called Alan Ball, who was one of the best players of his era. He won a World Cup medal but was a flop in most of his previous managerial positions.

He got Portsmouth promoted to the old 1st Division (Premiership) but they were relegated the next season and he was eventuall sacked.
His next managerial position was at Stoke, where he spent a lot of money but they were relegated from Div 2 to Div 3 (Championship to League 1).

Next was Exeter (in Div 3) who he took well on the way to relegation to Div 4 (League 2) and was sacked before the end of the season.

At Southampton, he just managed to avioid relegation two season running (mainly thanks to Matt Le Tissier virtually singlehandedly saving them0. Without Le Tiss they'd have certainly gone.

Then he came to us, on the strength of his friendship with Chairman Francis Lee, who'd played alongside him for England. Many fans questioned this at the time but we were told we had a world class manager. He took us down to the Championship and set the scene for the fall to League 1 in 1998.

People say "trust the people with the experience" but we as fans have a lot of experience of watching football and are not easily fooled.

So Platt is our new manager is he?
I'm making the point that past records are a more reliable guide than past friendships. If you can't see that then I despair.

Taggert was close to getting sacked, untill mark robins popped up, people in life have to start somewhere, if he's had a few knockbacks fair play to him even more for wanting to prove people wrong.

are you sure you're talking about me prestwich? no, i haven't been impressed with everything mancini has done so far, i'm just saying lets not over react to the situation, mancini obviously wanted him for a reason.

I think this is bar far the Worst Appointment the club could of made. Apart from Gary "Chuckle Neville" In my 34 years of following City I have never heard that C_UNT Platt say a good word about us!!

You know that he's a coach and not a manager, yeah? What's Faustino's achievements?
The coach who is acknowledged as probably one of the best in the world right now, is Rene Mulensteen over at the rags. What has he achieved?

What's he won?

He's a coach

What's his managerial trophy haul?
HE'S A COACH

Where's the quotes from players benefiting from Mulensteen? It's rare that people pick up on quotes and print them about coaches rather than managers. Go over to some coaching forums and they'll tell you how highly respected he is, in that world.

A complete red herring and yet more deluded bollox. Taggart had won the Scottish league and a European trophy with Aberdeen. Therefore his pure managerial ability was not in question.
