This guy should be getting far more praise than he does. He is so underrated.

Borges and Mebude have put up some serious numbers in the U23's this season, but Bobb has been my U23 player of the season.

Just seems to control games with ease. Wonderful balance, lovely left foot, so skilful and wonderful football intelligence and vision.

He is the one player in the U23's right now I am most excited about in terms of breaking into the City first team squad.

I think selling him would be a mistake. What will be our loss will be someone else's gain. Brilliant little player.

He's my number 1 pick from the U23's as well.

He's also quite literally tailor made for our team to play in the half spaces in one of our 8/10 spots, and considering how old Kevin and Gundogan are, I think he has the best chance to make.

He has that 'pausa' that Pep any everyone keeps talking about.

I don't think he has missed a game, and also lasts the full 90 minutes. My player of the year also.

What I love about him is, he can play pretty much anywhere and Pep loves versatile players.

He played false nine v Chelsea, got man of the match and was superb. Played in midfield v United and Arsenal if I remember rightly and pulled the strings. For me he was the best player on the pitch in both of these games too at home. He also played left back in the second half v Arsenal and was brilliant at left back too. Won a fair amount of duels/tackles and was just really tidy in possession.

I really want to see him get a chance for us. Has all the technical qualities to make it with us, love the way he just glides with the ball. He is like a cross between Leroy Sane and David Silva stylistically. Just needs to build up a bit more physically, but that will come when he plays senior football. He already shields the ball so well anyway, similar to the way David Silva used to shield it.

Really excited about him. Just hope we do the right thing and keep him with the squad.

I agree,in my view he has been the best 'all round' mid-fielder this season, also the most mobile. At the beginning of the season I thought that what position he played dictated the teams performances. As you say if we had a man sent off or injured he slotted into the fullback role.

According to the official site Oscar Bobb has won the EDS Player of the Year for the second year running. A great achievement when you think of last years EDS 'stars' and him playing different roles this year.

Sorry, I posted somewhere in this thread that he hadn't missed a game, but it seems that he missed one game.
Well done to early posters who recognised his performances.

Reminds me a little of Silva at times. When he’s in possession, the game just seems to stop for a fraction of a second and he’s able to thread it through the eye of a needle or put it on a plate for someone. The ball just arrives at the right time and at the right pace, so the teammates don’t need to break stride. Effortless.

Totally agree, too me, he is the next one to progress to the first team

There isn't really a lot more that you can do than win EDS player of the year for two years running. Now, it will be head down, work hard, show that you are as good as the first team players in training. I am convinced that he will get his chance - I think he is at least as good a prospect as James McAtee.

Oscar Bobb is going under the radar glad he's getting some recognition he could be a very good player if he keeps his head down and the fact he's not getting as much attention as our other youths might be helping, whether or not he quite makes it here I dunno but when our fans talk about our youth players then I think he defo doesn't get the appreciation he deserves, at that level and younger everyone talks Delap, Palmer, McAtee, Lavia, Kayky or any of our promising defenders ahead of him just shows how good our youth teams are, poor Oscar gets Bobb all mention and that's quite Bobbins... I'll get my coat and leave.

Well done to the lad he won it and 100% deserves some acknowledgment for this past season as he was class.
This post has aged well. Sorry I missed it last year.

20 years old this summer and under contract until 2026 so decisions for next season are going to be interesting especially with the returning loan players thrown into the mix.

A hybrid of Bernie and David for me,potentially anyway.

Yes. The bit that reminds me of Silva is that ability to see the killer pass when the area is incredibly congested. Bernardo has never really developed quite in that way, albeit his other attributes more than compensate, while de Bruyne works better from further out and with a little bit more space. Bobb is more like a stiletto.

I think there was a lot of shock and surprise on here when he won best player last year but he had a proper top season, same again this season Mebude and Borges were great it's them two who has been getting all the plaudits in the academy thread, whether for their pace movement goals and running at players it's Borges/Mebude it's obvious they're very talented, Oscar Bobb though has been running the show and has easily been the best player this season and totally deserved player of the season.

Hope he gets a chance to impress at some point he's very David Silva esque in style he's shown his versatility too and just keeps getting better and better, if he doesn't get a chance here he'll go out on loan next season surely he's definitely ready far too good to stick around the youth setup, hopefully we'll see him in some preseason games where Pep can run the rule over him and decide the next step of his career.

Bobb has been even more impressive than last year his improvement stands out we need to make sure that momentum carries on, if he stays around and gets chances and improves from training with the best then great but if there's the loan option and to the right team that could be perfect, we need to guard against complacency though we've all seen how Palmer's progression halted this season with injuries and a loss of confidence, there's lots of competition for places and Bobb might relish that but if the right loan offer comes in we shouldn't hesitate.

When we were first linked with him I watched a YouTube clip of him when he was about 10 years old taking the piss out of boys twice his size & looking at times like Messi so I was really excited when we signed him. But then I was disappointed when I saw his first few games as a 1st year scholar for the U18's. He seemed to struggled with the physicality of English football. I"m glad to say he has obviously adapted & is looking more like the player in those YouTube clips.
