Otamendi

He's absolute class, a real warrior, but we don't need him. Kind of like a Zaba but at CB, always wanting to put in a tackle or get in a fight and he more than makes up for his lack of height with his aggression in the air. But we simply don't need him. He can only really play as a left sided CB and we are already stacked with fantastic CB's(at least I think he can only play on the left as I've never seen him on the right and Garay moved over to the right to facilitate him in the Argentina team. That to me suggests Otamendi can't play there, as Garay playing on the left is pretty much the bedrock of their defence usually). In Kompany and Demichelis we have more than enough experience and in Mangala and Denayer we have two of the best young CB's in world football, who I would n't be at all surprised if they went on to become one of the great partnerships, as their games are suited well to each others. The only way I could see us wanting Otamendi is if Kompany was leaving, and that isn't happening.

He's going to cost someone a fortune and they probably won't regret it, but CB is just about the last position we need to be spending big money on.

He can play on both sides Garay and Otamendi switched sides from the Paraguay game and the Uruguay game.

I am sure professional footballers can work out that sort of stuff in regards to positions. You highlighted that he is like Zabaleta... isn't that what we need? A player with a winning mentality, a player that will fight like Zaba and drag us through games with sheer will and determination...?

This is the kind of player needed to push for premier league titles. It may not be Otamendi, but it could be someone else.

When Kompany hit a bad spell last season, i didn't see any of our other centre backs stepping forward and taking the bull by the horns and carrying us over the line in games, maybe Otamendi could be that man... its not just ability that grinds out results, its all about character.

I would think he replaces DeMichelis. Denayer is still very young and needs more experience. Hopefully he goes on loan again to a very decent side (hopefully with European football - Spurs would be great- they need a leg up to take 4th for the other eejits)

Are you sure about that? I thought Garay stayed on the right for both games, then Otamendi got dropped for the third game so Demi could come back in on the right so Garay could go back to the left. I'm not sure I've ever seen either Otamendi or Garay play on the right before tbh, not that it's hugely important to my overall point that we simply don't need him.

you are using the Internet, you can google why he was loaned out,

I don't give a fuck why he was loaned out, I'm wondering why we have waited til he's 27 years old & suddenly we have to have him. Why not when he was 25, what was he doing ? why isn't he playing for Chelsea or Utd already, why now all of a sudden ?

Why do we want to spend a fortune on the 27 year old bloke who was dogshit for Argentina v Paraguay, rather than use the 19 year old homegrown player who has just made one of the greatest full debuts ever by a centre back, for Belgium v France ?

The people suggesting this, have you watched Denayer play ? Did you see him for Belgium v France ?

It never used to be like this at City. If we had a young player that good in years gone by, everybody would want him in the first team as soon as possible.

Ali Benarbia, remember the name.
