Otamendi

I entirely agree with this.

Would make one point. Thus far Mangala was comfortable with Costa last year and he eats the Rickie Lambert's for breakfast. You'd worry about him against a Sanchez type player or indeed if we draw Barca again. Perhapos this is the rationale.

You assume Demichellis or Denayer will leave as a consequence of this.

If their inability to pay for Negredo lands a world-class player in our lap, should we turn this down whether it's needed or not? It's a real debate. In Football Manager there is never the reality that a club may not actual pay you what is owed.

Someone at last. Re Mangala against a more nimble forward. Bless you. Love Mangala but I am with you on this.

oh Nicholas Otamendi
He is the fucking man
he comes from argentina
as hard as zabaleta
he plays in blue and white
for pellegrini's men
and when we win the league
ill try and grow a beard

;)

I can relieve you in another 30 mins (but not in a gay way!)
Haha it's ok mate, I'll be having another pint or two then heading home. Surely the medical centre closes about 6ish anyway?

Also, nowt doing still but there's a lad stood right by the entrance waiting. Looks like he's not moving for a while so at least nothing will be missed.

Mdm has the ability to come on in centre mid and act as an out ball for the defence.
Still has a great touch and great feet.
I'm sure his last few appearances have been in midfield.
I'd think about keeping him.

Don't think people realise Demi won't play as a CB much this season.

He's gonna be in a role where he is brought in the last minutes to close and slow the game like against WBA and Chelsea.

4 cb's will be maintained kompany, mangala, denayer and otamendi

This Demichelis in midfield is a massive red herring. Every time it's happened we've had no fit midfielder on the bench. Do you really think Pellegrini would throw on Demichelis out of position if Delph were fit to come on and do the job we bought him for?

Mangala is not the answer. Not right now. He played well against Chelsea and needs to develop his game but he still appears somewhat of a liability to me. I think Otamendi would be a great signing. Gotta think about the Champions League. Kompany and Otamendi would form a solid partnership with zabelata and kolarov either side.

Otherwise, the only other position to strengthen is the right wing. I have never seen a winger hit the first man ever! He has blistering place but always checks his runs, tries to cut back inside, has no left foot and just ends up stopping and stalling. I thought he'd be a great success when he first joined but I am sorry, Nasri is a far better player. Pedro would be an ideal signing and De Bruyne would be a quality. With Delph and Fernando to return, defence and defensive midfield looks rock solid, with serious quality up front. However, a lot still rests on Aguero and staying fit. Bony is class but another striker is required.

Please prove me wrong, but I'm pretty sure MD played most of his career in midfield.

No probs now,we are in the clear with FFP

We are certainly not clear of FFP. We will never be able to spend whatever we want whilst FFP exists.

In simple terms we can spend what we make in revenue with any Academy spend outside the reporting perimeter . A transfer fee in FFP terms is split over the length of the player's contract, a sort of depreciation called amortisation.

Revenue wise we'll hit somewhere just short of £400m, at a guess which is loads more than we've had in the past. Once all wages and costs of the club are paid we have the rest for transfer fees (or their annual amortised portion). Fees in are taken in full and Jovetic and Dzeko will probably be recognised straight away despite the money not dropping until later this year. Through the books we'll have to pay the whole Otamendi amount, regardless of the Negredo wrangle.

Yes we're not under investigation but the club wouldn't want to break the rules and come under investigation again. Think it is probably right that the club are spending right up to their capability to improve the squad from last year.

That's not technically true. We don't have any sanctions hanging over us but we do have to adhere to the same rules as everyone else. I'm guessing we can afford to spend around £130m net but more well informed blues can clarify...

So if Kompany is injured and Otamendi gets suspended you would prefer ..
Demichilis and Denayer rather than either
Mangala and Denayer or
Mangala and Demichelis
depending on who's on loan/gone)?

I think there will be many many times that our first 2 CBs will not be free to play. You need excellent backup to challenge in the CL.

In any case it seems to be happening so we'll figure it out. :-) Worse problems to have!!!! :-)

We are clear as is no punishment now
Everyone has to stick to the rules obviously

The club as of today has spent ~£10m net this transfer window.

Otamendi would take us to £35m and KDB to £85m.

To give an impression here, we spent £79m net last year when we were under the FFP sanctions.
