A much more humble response by everybody else wouldn't have gone amiss either.
Can only agree with this, some people really need to calm downAs an older fan but newer poster, some of these responses have been a bit disappointing in regards to the #23 error.
Been a Blue since 1981 season ticket holder quite a few seasons. Now live away with a young family so can't go as often as I like. Teenage years were awful to be a Blue as it coincided with them cunts good period. I forgot about Marc's shirt number ( it is early ) does this make me a rag or new money Blue? Why do people go straight for the jugular on here ffs.Not one person on here knows everything about our beloved City.
As other people have referenced it wasn't the initial mistake that rattled my cage so to speak ... It was his reaction coming back to The thread and being an arrogant self important degenerateI wasn't offended and have been a blue some 50 odd years.
I just realised it was one of those things the lad didn't know about us.
Cut some slack heh :-)
With the response he got, I'm not surprised he became defensive. That would have been all well and good, until he came back being a billy big bollocks.

He also said 'the deal is nailed on' so not just the shirts. I recall Alan Shearer having his Rag shirts printed 20 years or so ago so you are right that alone means nothing.
I think you'll find most are welcoming of new fans..myself included
When I get into anything outside of football I research it thoroughly
Find out about it
Surely if you're going to support a club you'd look at significant events in its history..at the very least
This is not a balloon scoring a goal here
Or Dibble getting the ball headed out of his hands
This is a player dying and his number being retired
There's not one person young or old who I know that's a City fan that doesn't know the significance of that number
I just think if you're going to post on a forum full of reasonably knowledgeable and long standing fans
You should at least have a working knowledge of the football club
I don't think that's unreasonable
I like to think that I am a balanced and fair minded person that doesn't rush to judgement on others.I bet it's piss easy to walk over you.
Genuinely sorry to read that.I don't though, not even remotely.
Fixed the goalkeeping error for you mate.. :-)
To all those who reacted to @ankitptrivedi's comment about the No23 shirt.
Why should he apologise for an innocent mistake and how is it disrespectful. He wasn't trying to sully the memory of Marc Vivien Foe in any way. He made an innocent comment. Why didn't people just explain the significance of that particular number and move on instead of the show of indignation. But then that wouldn't have massaged your ego's and highlighted what longstanding supporters and know alls you are. Just have to remember that none of us own Manchester City. Anyone can come along support us in their own way whenever they want.
I just wish people would be more welcoming of newer supporters rather that look down on them because they haven't followed City as long as others might have done.

Not directed at you but those that know it all should have the decency to say it in a polite way as well. So far I've only seen 2 posts that actually points my mistake, all other posts are 'Seriously?', '****', 'Plastic'.
While I'm trying to read as much as possible, a little patience and a little less abuse with the new fans would be good.
My apologies that my quarter of a century is not of stature to be seen as 'older'. I'll see you in another 25 years and we can re-assess?Older fan? You're only 25, ffs.
ThisCome on now, the lad made a mistake, he's been taken to task about it, let's not get all Liverpool about it.

Only on this George. I've no doubts you're a very trustworthy person on a variety of other subjects.Genuinely sorry to read that.
