Otamendi

Did City Tour on Sat afternoon right after training and we were told that Otamendi signing on Monday, due Valencia do not have the £££M they owe us from the Negredo deal. The idea was that we would take Otamendi for well under his Escape Clause and would be the only team allowed to do so. MDM is short timer and we need to solidify the back four for the big season ahead. Nothing was said about Mangala (who was immense today, even though he needs a little bit of work on the floor, a la Joleon Lescott, but already better!), and we were left with the impression that he would be an addition, not a swap.

That's all I've got, and I'm not willing to throw the City Staff member who told us under the bus, so take it for what it's worth.

Cheers mate, definitely makes sense that.

Txiki, what the fuck are you doing? Wouldn't trust him doing the weekly shop at the moment. Baffled by this. Managla needs to stay here!

So in the last 10 mins it appears managla might stay, if he stays then good bit of business, if he goes then a monumental fuckup as managla will form the best cb partnership in the prem this year and hopefully for the next 5 years plus.

This makes sense.

We need to keep Mangala (who's improving week by week) and add to our back end not subtract or make seemingly lateral moves.

Well that's OK then.
That's all that's really being said when we step away from watching the beautiful highlights from yesterday's game ;) this is a clever chess move that also takes away a top target from the rags. 2 years ago the papers while Mangala and Otamendi were at Porto the papers were all over the rags coming in with a double swoop for mega money. Here we are about to have both on our roster for the future at perfect times. Otamendi is reaching his prime and is one of the best CB's in the world right now after 1 year at Valencia in which he is one of the very few to mark Messi/Suarez/Ronaldo/Bale well. That's what we need in our team to move forward in champions league. In the possibility of sending Mangala on loan we could be hoping that a year at Valencia could work the same magic for him. He would start every game and defend against a lot of tricky talent plus champions league experience. The Mangala link could have only been discussed because both use Mendes and we know the relationship with Peter Lim/Valencia.

The possibility of VK/Otamendi/Denayer/Demi this season is still an excellent group. Even if we need to ease Otamendi in, we have the trusted Demi who was our best defender last year unanimously to step in. Or these would be the games in which we see Denayer finally make his debut. For Mangala's development he doesn't need rotation as we can see it starting to pay off now. So if he isn't rotated we would relegate Denayer to chance starts or cup games which aren't promised.

The key here is we win now and build for the future when Mangala comes back next season hopefully at the same level as Ota is now... While being a few years younger. This is a Delph level bargain on a bigger scale for a top 5 CB in Europe last year. Top international player and would find comfort playing along side Kün/Zaba/Demi and former teammate Fernando.

Mangala isn't going the other way. Otamendi will come in and reading around twitter that Lopes and possibly Denayer will go on loan to Valencia. Great signing Otamendi when it's stiched up finally gives us with Kompany, Mangala, Otamendi and DeMichelis 4 centre halfs to compete better in the Champions League. This squad is coming together really well.

Forgive me if i'm wrong, but bringing in Otamendi and KDB necessitates getting one of the non Homegrown off the roster to make space doesn't it? Lopes going doesn't free up a space, although will be beneficial for him, so do we have any news on outgoings?
