From Valencia's point of view though they haven't paid us yet as it was a loan plus buy in 12 months.

We can say to them now if you want 35m for Otamendi, let us give you the 10m-15m difference from the Negredo fee.

But with our restrictions and a spending limit last year I think we had to declare and use the money early to stay within the budget; as it was an obligation to buy.

I would love for us to steal him in front of United, they desperately need a CB. He's a former Porto player, so I don't hope he'll perform like Fernando and Mangala has this season. Mangala was better in the last part of the season, but overall, he disappointed considering the price tag for him. But I reckon he'll do much better in the upcomming season. That said, I don't think the deal will happen, and I think we should focus on signing a world class midfielder(Pogba), De Bruyne and Sterling, They would all be great additions to the squad.

I think there could be something in this to be honest as kaldhoon did state that youth would get a chance but not at the detriment of the first team? denayer looks a top prospect but maybe loaning him out to a top championship club or even premier league club to get better experience may be the thinking behind this move. I for one think he would be great at city.

I think, Otamendi is also really a hell of a defender. Problem is only, that they wanted at least 35m £ for him at Valencia... that was the talk yesterday in his fan forum...

It sounds really interesting the whole case, because the talk is also, to transfer Otamendi to us in part of the dept they have with City for Negredo. And maybe, they have too, then they are also almost on their own FFP limit (because the owner, Slim, gave them 100m Euro the last season, to get the signs Nuno, the Dt, wanted).

And anyway no offer came for Otamendi to them, even near the 30m £

Could see this 1 happening Mangala Kompany Otamendi (Demechelis replacement) & Denayer (Boyata replacement) that'd be 4 decent CBs allowing us to compete on all 4 fronts. That's if Demichelis does go.

Denayer is a full Belgian international. A move to a Championship side would only weaken his international chances.

He needs to be at a club with a decent pedigree. Somewhere like Lyon, Porto, Fiorentina etc. A club in Europe where he will be playing alongside international players.

Regardless of whether we think the SPL is a lot weaker than the Championship, Celtic are still a huge club who play in Europe. That have him the platform for his call-up.
