Otamendi

I agree with @greasedupdeafguy this transfer just wouldn't make sense to me. We already resigned Demi, and otamendi is already 27... I think the only way we get this guy is if we don't trust Either manga or kompany and don't think Denayer could step up and play in big games for us.

Edit: plus if we're going to spend big cash on a veteran cb id rather pay what 10 mil more for Sergio Ramos

I just think Demi will be off by January and in regards to Denayer, as good as he he is I really would be surprised if City are willing to put absolute faith in him and be reliable for 20-25 games this season.

If Demi goes we need an experienced defender to replace him and with Otamendi being arguably the best defender in La Liga last season I can see why Txiki is interested.

I still think central defence needs to be looked at.

Demi is likely to leave soon, Vinny is injury prone, Mangala is hot and cold and Denayer is still very inexperienced.

I think we need another cb to be fair as Demi's legs are going and you can't throw denayer in and expect miracles. To fight on all fronts I think we need another proven cb with a bit of pace.

I would think demichelis still has a season left and has probably been our most consistent defender the past two seasons. Kompany despite his form, when fit you still would expect him to be one of the first names on the team sheet. Not a huge Mangala fan but I he's a 30 million pound signing so cant see him being replaced. Imo Denayer will prove to be good enough when given the chance, didn't look out of place at all against France and had some excellent European games for Celtic last season.

Agree with all of this. When I first saw the link I just waved it away but thought about it more and came to the same conclusions as you about our current cbs. We can't rely on demichelis the same as we did last season and we've seen that Pellegrini doesn't trust Mangala fully as he refused to play him vs Barcelona.

Perhaps if Pogba (70 mill) wasn't to come, although I want him to, and we get Wilshere for £40mill then there's worse ways to spend that extra money we would have spent on Pogba and get this guy in.

I only suggest this situation as I can't see us buying all of Sterling, De Bruyne, Pogba, Otamendi and a LB in one window.

I I think Denayer will not go on loan because we need HG players, then probably Demichelis go ,and Otamendi in but i think we we will not pay him 35m ,then will use Negredo fee and maybe 12-15m for Otamendi, and Rulli is going to loan in Valencia after we buy him.

The best player at Valencia and my mate at work would be gutted if they sold him. He always says €50m when I say we're gonna buy him. Not sure what the figures are but he's very highly rated here.
