Given his reputation...... Why do you not rate him Nev?
Seen him play.

What is it he supposed to be good at ?

Denayer was miles better for Belgium last week, than Ottamendi was for Aregentina. At pretty much everything. He is ours & homegrown.

This would be the stupidest & most disappointing signing I could possibly imagine. Might as well sign Fred & send Iheanacho on loan while we're at it.

I've never seen him so I have no opinion on his ability,but....... to be the best centre half in La Liga......he must have something??

I too would be gutted for Denayer but I imagine, like others,Demi would make way.

So who leaves for us to fit in yet another fucking centre half instead of the better homegrown one we already have ?

If you're butting your head against the wall, it's worth noting I'm with you on this one. We have Kompany (who starts when fit), Mangala (a young talent we're married to developing, who already made significant strides in that direction to close out the season), Demichelis (who has been consistent and level headed over the past two seasons), and one of the brightest young central defenders in Europe (who was just voted Young Player of the Year on his loan spell and capped on a senior level for FIFA's #2 ranked nation in the world).

If we run out and buy an expensive central defender under these circumstances I'll be heartbroken. Eventually we have to give a kid a chance, and the level of responsibility that rests on the shoulders of our 4th choice option isn't exactly Herculean. He'll get league cup, FA cup, and cover for injuries. In the even of two senior injuries there are a lot of clubs who would be happy to have Denayer as their 4th choice. Give him a chance.

In the long run Demi needs replacing. Saying that Denayer I think could be used this season even with Demi , Kompany , Mangala and Otamendi if he joins at the club. I think Denayer could well be used to sit in front of the back 4 to close out some games to give him experience within the team. Honestly think Denayer if MP thinks he is ready will give him a run of games this season. His season at Celtic has done him wonders. Playing European games if we were to loan him out again I would be in favour of him going back to Celtic or to a team who will be playing European football so 2 years time he is in the mix to be a regular starter.

Did you watch his games against Barca and Real Madrid this season?

I can't remember.

I've watched Valencia play Barca & Real I've watched Atleti play Barca & Real & I've seen various teams take points off them & I've seen sides with Jerome Boateng or Humnels in them, beat those teams in the Champions League.

I've just watched Roque Santa Cruz give him a fucking hard time a few days ago.

I can't see why the fuck we would want him, at all.

Use what we've got. If Denayer doesn't make it this season, replace Demi with a more experienced cb than Denayer next season. Absolutely no need to sign this bloke at all.

There is a very great need to sign a top class centre-half. The chaos at the heart of our defence was the single biggest reason we lost our title last season. I know many of us won't acknowledge it, but Mangala is just out of his depth in the premier, and if Vinny is in decline, we're facing another trophyless season unless we do something about it.

Mangala would improve Argentina.

Mangala needs more time and will come good albeit I am not expecting him to come back next season and be the next Lilian Thuram or Marcel Desailly, and in regards to Vinny, a lot comes down to fitness.

I still think we need another experienced top class central defender to replace Martin long term.

Demichelis will probably be on his last legs this season, but the way City play is seriously hard for centre backs, & whereas Pepe or Ramos etc are used to that kind of behaviour, most cbs have not just got the shock of defending with little protection to deal with, but also the culture shock of the Prem, which has hit both Mangala & Fernando.

Demichelis although he's running on fumes, at least knows what he's supposed to do, which even Vinny is still coming to terms with. Denayer already plays like that, so at least has a bit of a clue.

Abother new bloke, is yet another problem, when we are trying to introduce 3 or 4 new players elsewhere. How many teams win titles with so many changes ?

He has had a superb season for Valencia, very highly regarded in Spain by fans and pundits.

This one could be interesting...

Not sure what the fuse is against bringing in Otamendi. Currently he is better than all of our CBs, no argument about it.
